Colors’ new show Pyaar Ke Saat Vachan Dharam Patnii is not the usual roller-coaster hatred-turns-to-love story. The show is produced by Balaji Telefilms. It has its own dramatic elements which are highlighted by engaging dynamics between couples. We have Pratiksha Parekh, the eldest of the three daughters in the Parekh family, who is of marriageable age. She has two mature and loving sisters, and all three are the apples of their parent’s eyes.
On the other hand, we have the flamboyant and light-hearted Ravi Randhawa who is a business tycoon. He is in love with a very enterprising, independent Keerthi, but has fallen short in proposing to her all the time. Destiny keeps bringing Ravi and Pratiksha face to face for a reason. Ravi saved Pratiksha’s life when he was supposed to be saving Keerthi’s life. Ravi proposed to Pratiksha when he was about to propose in style to Keerthy. Also, there is a suggestion to both their kundalis being weird. We hear from both sides that Ravi and Pratiksha will face tough times if they do not get married soon.
The story which started in the abode of the Parekh house is now shifted to the Chacha and chachi’s house of the three girls.
The highlight till now has been the breezy love story of Ravi and Keerthi. There is a unique appeal to them. Keerthi’s smartness coupled with Ravi’s childishness makes them a very lively couple. This is where Dharam Patnii is different from many other shows. We know for sure that destiny will eventually bring Ravi and Pratiksha together. But in no way do Ravi and Keerthi look a mismatch. Keerthi is the kind of girl every man will love to fall for. And then, to complicate their love affair, we have Tanya, the younger sister of Keerthi who is also madly in love with Ravi. However, the elder sister is not aware of it, though Tanya has made it evident before Ravi. The scene where Ravi enlightens Tanya that he is not in love with her and loves her sister was engaging to the core.
On the other hand, Pratiksha has been passed literally from one male to another. She was about to marry a guy back in Junagarh, where the tragic and unfortunate death of her parents stops the wedding. At her chacha’s place, the chachi’s cunning eye is on the house and property that the girls’ parents have left behind. Hence the lady wants to get Pratiksha married to her nephew Malhar who is a ruffian to the core. Malhar again, is a total mismatch for Pratiksha. He has evil intentions too behind marrying her.
The plot is at crossroads we can say, as something big is all set to happen which will probably rattle the lives of Ravi and Pratiksha. The news is that Keerthy will meet with her death, and this will be a very big high point in the show.
Coming to the performances, Fahmaan looks his best in this role. He is funny, straightforward and a lover from the heart. Kritika Singh Yadav is doing a decent job but can do better. The actor to have grabbed all limelight owing to her engaging screen presence is Gurpreet Bedi in the role of Keerthi. Another revelation in the role offered is Akash Jagga. From playing a lover boy in Sasural Simar Ka 2, to this rough and tough Malhar, Akash has come a long way.
The show has a big stellar cast that has Utkarsha Naik, Vijhay Badlaani, Amit Singh Thakur, Ashita Dhawan, Shireen Mirza, Naveen Saini, Rose Khan, Aditi Shetty, Tasneem Khan and many others.
The makers probably wasted a few of their scenes by depicting the parents of the girls. Before they could establish their characters, they were bumped off the script.
The plot has been pacey enough and we have seen quite a lot happening in the first two weeks. The cinematography is to the point and sharp.
The show has all the meat to keep the viewers engaged.
We rate the show with 3.5 stars out of 5.
