Leena Gangopadhyay’s production company, Magic Moments Motion Pictures, has ventured beyond the Bengali entertainment industry with its debut original Hindi TV series, Jhanak. The show has gained significant popularity, prompting the production company to pursue a variety of compelling concepts for Hindi television. Their latest offering, Durga on Colors, addresses the prevalent issue of inequality and challenges societal barriers faced by marginalized communities. This engaging narrative revolves around a tale of social love and the struggle against discriminatory norms and practices.

The TV show Durga is captivatingly situated in the vibrant setting of Jodhpur. The depiction of the sand dunes and the prominent local landmarks is truly awe-inspiring. The lively Naag Utsav and the bustling Mela are particularly noteworthy in the first few episodes. The exceptional visualization and staging make these scenes truly stand out.

The attention to detail in the costumes of the show is truly remarkable. From the attire of the local tribes to the regal clothing of the royal Rajwada family, every outfit is meticulously designed and executed with authenticity. The grandeur and luxury of the royal family are vividly brought to life through the magnificent and culturally rich attire portrayed on screen.

The pacing of the show has been impressive, with impactful and forceful dialogues. The attention to detail in the characters’ dialects is commendable, especially for those who have lived in the area for an extended period. There is a noticeable contrast in the way the protagonists speak, reflecting their well-educated and socially privileged backgrounds.

Indira Krishnan delivers another standout performance as Paani Bai in the cast. Her commanding presence, powerful delivery of dialogues, and how she embodies her character are truly remarkable. She skillfully portrays the authority befitting the role, showcasing her impressive acting prowess.

Pranali Rathod’s return after her role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai is truly unique! She has taken on a role that is completely different from her previous ones, packed with resilience, courage, and determination. Pranali’s portrayal of Durga has been impressive right from the start. Her simple yet distinctive attire complements her beauty and adds to the character’s appeal.

Aashay Mishra, in the role of Kunwarsa, has made a promising start as Anurag. It is essential for him to portray the romantic aspects of his character accurately and to establish good onscreen chemistry with Pranali for the love story to come alive. These initial stages are crucial, and Aashay must carve out his own path to success.

Actors Parineeta Borthakur, Jaya Binju Tyagi and Jasjeet Babbar have until now bagged a decent chance to introduce their characters well to the audiences in these initial weeks. Sachin Verma has had his share of sequences, while Digvijay Purohit, Krrishna Soni and Aditi Asija’s characters will open up with time.

Rishi Kaushik has picked up an amazingly different arc to portray with his role of Rajesh in Durga. While Tejas was sophisticated and polished in his tyranny in Jhanak, Rajesh seems to be the complete contrast of Tejas. Rishi looks breathtakingly suave in his tribal look.

The show Durga highlights the importance of education and the pursuit of a career. Durga’s determination to fulfill her dream of becoming a doctor, despite facing discrimination, is truly inspiring as it showcases her relentless pursuit of respect and recognition.

The love story will be of utmost importance as the plot develops. The main couple must render impactful effort in order to convincingly portray a deeply in love pair.

Durga has started on the right note!! The show’s realistic portrayal of Durga’s struggle for equality in the face of societal divisions is sure to pique the audience’s interest.

We at IWMBuzz.com give Durga 3 out of 5 stars.
