Colors has been on a roll with its new launches!! After Thapki Pyar Ki 2, Sirf Tum is the next biggie to kickstart on the channel. This one is huge considering that it is the comeback show of popular actor Vivian Dsena. Also, Rashmi Sharma Productions and Colors have associated in the past to give the TV viewing audience remarkable plots like Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Sasural Simar Ka.

This Vivian Dsena and Eisha Singh starrer show has been inspired by the plot of the Shahid Kapoor starrer film Kabir Singh. The plot of Sirf Tum has started exactly in the way Kabir Singh opened up. It is to be seen if the makers follow the same storyline or take a different trajectory in the plot to avoid the predictability factor.

Coming to the storyline, We have Ranveer (Vivian Dsena) who is a topper in the medical college. He is good at everything, from sports to academics. However, he has a rough exterior owing to his family problems and personal experiences. Enter Suhaani (Eisha Singh) who is about to get admission to the same college when Ranveer studies. Ranveer falls for Suhaani’s innocence and beauty. He is smitten in love and is ready to do anything and everything for her.

Talking about Suhaani and her family, Suhaani comes from a very conservative family wherein her father is extremely protective of his daughter. It is not even apt to term it as protectiveness, as it is something beyond it. Living in the era we are in, we are not able to fathom the thoughts of the father when he gets angry seeing a mere sight of his daughter without her dupatta. The father is averse to sending his daughter to a co-ed college. No girl of today’s generation will probably connect to these thoughts.

Moving over to the girl, Suhaani reminds us of Bhumika Chawla in Tere Naam. Suhaani is the silent, soft-spoken innocent girl who shares the big dream of becoming a doctor. This is a vision seen by her and her friend-like mother. The equation between the mother and daughter is so progressive. Alas, this family does not have a father with matching attributes.

Now to Ranveer’s family. Ranveer has a very close bond with his mother. However, the same cannot be said about his stepfather and stepbrother. Ranveer’s aggressiveness probably stems from the lack of having a father-like figure in his life.

Coming to the plot and love story, it is obviously love at first sight for Ranveer. You can call him a lover boy, a bully or a stalker, this love tale of Ranveer’s is for sure very complicated, given his aggressive and frank nature. As of now, it is one-sided love for Ranveer. For a girl like Suhaani, it will take a long time perhaps, to break the tight shackles of her conservative home and fall in love with a guy like Ranveer.

The biggest plus in the plot has to be the chemistry of Ranveer and Suhaani. They have all that it takes to become a lovable Jodi. The only glitch here is the premise, as Vivian Dsena who is well and truly above a certain age, does not look convincing as a medical student. If only he was shown to be a well-versed doctor, he would have looked more apt in the role. Nevertheless, irrespective of this dampening factor, Vivian looks perfect as the staunch lover with the baggage of being aggressive. He has this loveable as well as the terrorizing nature in him that is impactful for this complicated lover role. The manner in which he addresses his lady love Suhaani as Ms Zimmedaari makes us smile.

Eisha Singh looks good as the docile, soft-spoken Suhaani. Her eyes give out the needed amount of innocence and grace. Vivian and Eisha’s roles make for the perfect combination of ‘opposites attract’.

Actors Sanjay Batra and Eva Ahuja play the parents of Suhaani well. We have not seen much of Ranveer’s family till now. Nimay Bali, Shalini Kapoor seem to be doing a decent job with what we have seen so far. Puneett Chouksey as the stepbrother of Ranveer packs a punch!! His clashes with Ranveer look good onscreen. Sonya Ayodhyaa plays the common factor in the lives of Ranveer and Suhaani. She is a very close friend of Suhaani, while she claims to be Ranveer’s love interest. This character will surely add more sparks to the otherwise twisted love tale of Ranveer and Suhaani.

The story shown till now is on the predictable lines, as the makers have promoted the new product by terming it to be inspired by Kabir Singh. We only hope this predictability factor does not dampen the interests of audiences. We will love it if the makers can deviate from the original and give this complex love tale a flavour of its own!!

We credit Sirf Tum with 3 stars out of 5 stars.
