Review of Sony SAB’s Pushpa Impossible: TV’s Pushpa rises and shines

IWMBuzz.com reviews Sony SAB’s show Pushpa Impossible

Sony SAB has always been a frontrunner in telling innovative and experimental stories and the newly launched show Pushpa Impossible is yet another example. Produced by Hats Off Production, Pushpa Impossible is the story about Pushpa Patel, a feisty, fun-loving, strong-willed, and self-made woman who sets out on an unconventional path to achieve a life of respect and dignity.

Hailing from the small hamlet of Patan, Gujarat, Pushpa now lives in the sprawling Mumbai metropolis where she runs a tiffin service from home to provide for her children. Hers has been a life of struggle and hardship, but it could never eclipse her zest for life. Her only wish is to see her kids respect her for who she is, which she thinks is possible only through education. In order to do that, Pushpa embarks on an unusual path to make her dreams come true and change the course of her life forever. Bringing alive the various shades of Pushpa’s colourful personality on screen is none other than ace actress and performer Karuna Pandey. She is joined by a stellar cast including Naveen Pandita, Darshan Gurjar, Deshna Dugad, Garima Parihar, and Bhakti Rathod.

The first episode of the show beautifully establishes Pushpa’s relationship with each character. There are nuances and situations which add so much substance to the story and to Pushpa’s character. She is smart and intelligent and not to forget extremely talented. Being a single mother and home entrepreneur, her views on what it means to be a woman are much more progressive than many of her peers.

Pushpa’s belief that everything is achievable through hard work is her guiding principle in life. When things go crooked, Pushpa’s not one to sit in a corner and cry. Her weapon of choice, when faced with challenges, is a smile. At first, after looking at Pushpa, her behaviour, look, accent, and other traits, you may find a resemblance with TV’s iconic character Anupamaa. However, Pushpa is totally distinct from her. And the actress gives the character a different approach. That makes her Pushpa loveable and diverse. We must say, Karuna has beautifully taken up the character.

The premise of the show is extremely relatable and a few scenes will even leave you gutted and that is the USP of the show. The canvas is full of other vibrant characters like Ashwin, Chirag, Dipti, Rashi, and others each having its own quirks and all have managed to stand out so far.

Overall, it is a decent watch. It gives a ‘feel good’ vibe. We hope that the show continues to capture the audience’s attention in the near future too. All said and done, if you want a few good laughs and inspiring messages, this is the show for you. IWMBuzz.com credits the show 3 out of 5 stars.
