Sony Entertainment Television has been a pioneer in bringing forth simple, yet heartfelt concepts depicting the life and struggles of the common man. Kaamnaa – Hoga Khwaahishon Aur Usoolon Ka Aamna Saamna, the recently launched show takes the viewers on a journey of a middle-class couple – Manav and Akanksha with different ideologies.
Produced by Cockcrow and Shaika Entertainment, the show has an amazing cast that includes Chandni Sharma (Akanksha), Abhishek Rawat (Manav), and Manav Gohil (Vaibhav Kapoor). Set against the beautiful backdrop of the City of Lakes – Bhopal, the Bajpayee family is like every other Indian middle-class family. Manav, a sincere government official and a loving family man who believes in living an honest life based on his principles. On the other hand, Akanksha is a devoted housewife and caring mother. But just like her name, she has big dreams and desires to move and break away from the stereotypical middle-class environment and live a luxurious lifestyle.
As soon as you see or hear about the show, it will remind you of the’90s super hit film Judaai starring Sridevi, Urmila Matondkar, and Anil Kapoor. In the show, Akanksha wants all the luxuries for herself and her family. For that, she also fakes fancy jewellery and also enrolls her son in a spelling bee competition at a school that could win him an admission there. However, her husband Manav is against putting pressure on their son and is happily living a simple life.
Later, Akanksha also bumps into business tycoon Vaibhav Kapoor who falls in love with the former. He keeps admiring her. The casting for the show is perfect as Abhishek, Chandani and Manav fit into their roles. The attention to detail, the expressions of the actors, the costume, set, all prove that the job is done well.
Having said that, this new drama is nothing out-of-the-box and is a recreation of the Judaai movie. It is a dull start as of now. The drama quotient will have to intensify to rank up the show. We credit Kaamnaa with 2 out of 5 stars.
