Review of Sony TV’s Katha Ankahee: Adnan Khan and Aditi Sharma lead the way in this emotional drama

Sony TV's Katha Ankahee produced by Sphere Origin, with Aditi Sharma and Adnan Khan in the leads, is being reviewed here.

Sony TV’s Katha Ankahee has been the much-awaited show for the Hindi viewing TV audience. The concept based on the very popular Turkish drama series One Thousand and One Nights is one unique subject that is being dealt with on Indian television.

The story is about the single mother Katha who is undertaking all kinds of jobs to pool in money for her son’s treatment. Aarav, Katha’s son is in the fourth stage of Blood Cancer and needs immediate surgery and treatment beyond to survive. The total medical cost is something that is way beyond Katha’s reach, and this puts her in a dilemma.

On the other hand, we have Viaan Raghuvanshi who does not trust women and believes that every woman is after money. His notion stems from the fact that his father walked out of marriage with his mom, for a much younger and more beautiful girl.

The best part about this show is in the characterizations and the cast pooled in for it. Adnan Khan as Viaan is living his character to the ‘T’. Aditi and her desperate attempts to pool money for her son’s operation, touch our hearts. Her eyes are enough to convey the sorrow that she is going through. Child actor Azinkya Mishra as Aarav is doing a splendid job. His scenes with his mother steal the cake, especially the ones where Katha tries to give the kid the much-needed breathing lessons, when he loses his breath and becomes unstable.

Samar Virmani who plays the role of Ehsaan, Viaan’s friend and work partner, comes across as a fresh breath of air. Again, his sequences with Viaan remind us of that one dear friend with whom we can share our joys as well as sorrows.

The chemistry between Aditya Garewal, played by Vinay Rohrra and Katha, that is Aditi is simply amazing. We long to see some beautifully etched romantic scenes of the past between them.

Vishal Gandhi as the doctor treating Aarav, Gireesh Sahdev and Jyoti Gauba as the parents of the dead Aditya, Sheen Dass as Rewa are well-cast in their characters. Also, there is Manoj Chandila who is quite intimidating in his role.

The pace of the story is very good. The ‘propose’ scene at the Gurudwara, the scene between Katha and her father-in-law made us cry.

Overall, this is a very emotional subject that will surely draw the audience to it. The biggest plus about this show lies in its strong casting and of course, in the life that every actor puts into their well-etched characters.

Production house Sphere Origins can feel proud of bringing this emotional drama to their viewers.
