Star Plus’ new show Banni Chow Home Delivery produced by Shashi Sumeet Productions is yet another Hindi version of a popular regional show. This Star Jalsha show Khukumoni Home Delivery has won a lot of attention, and the Hindi version promises that and more!!
The major plus points of the show lie in its characters. While Banni is the strong, independent and fearless girl with the heart of gold, Yuvan has a child-like innocence and looks for his mother in every loving and caring person that he comes across.
There is a very popular saying – The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach!!
This is Banni’s approach as she is a culinary expert who in addition to supplying food to her clients, adds the virtue of love and more love into the dishes she makes. This connect of food between Banni and Yuvan is very pure and selfless. A very different connect this, something that we have not seen a lot on Hindi TV.
Another big aspect of the show is how Ulka Gupta and Pravisht Mishra have added life to their characters. The bond that connects them comes across so genuinely on screen. Kudos to the two for bringing the right emotions on screen!!
Banni Chow Home Delivery is rich when it comes to the Rajasthani culture and dialect. Baani’s frank yet strong virtues that are related to the food and heart, and the dialect that she talks in, are heart-warming.
Coming to Yuvan, he has been deprived of his mother’s love and has only her memories to live with. His mental instability has him behave like a small boy even when he has grown up. He lives a life of loneliness and is scared of almost all in his family. The terror of course, in the family set-up, is his stepmother Manini.
Yuvan’s life changes when he sees his mother’s reflection in Banni. Her food, her caressing nature, her warmth and affection nurture him well and this is not liked by the mother. Their bond of friendship we reiterate is so very pure and genuine.
Otherwise, the family of Yuvan is filled with evil personalities, starting from his step-mother, step-brother and all other close relatives. The only people in the house to care for Yuvan are his Dadusa and his sister and a handful from the younger generation.
The tyranny of the mother against her stepson is not something that we have not seen on TV or in films before. But what makes this plot stronger is how the artists perform.
The world of Banni which is very rustic and has a rural touch to it, is very different from Yuvan’s lavish world. The makers have succeeded in creating this contrast well.
Also, the costumes given to Banni need special praise. The outfits that Banni wears and the look that she has got, make her the perfect simpleton that she is!!
The story plot has been crisp and pacey. There has been a good amount of drama in the first week. The pain and agony that Yuvan faces in his world have been shown with clarity.
Coming to performances, this is Pravisht Mishra and Ulka Gupta’s show totally. They are tailor-made for the role and they excel in the way they execute it.
Ayush Anand as Viraj also has his moments to watch. His negative avatar has shades of comedy and this makes it different. Parvati Sehgal as the stepmother is one glamorous beauty with a clear cut goal of tyranny. Parvati is performing it really well. Another solid pillar for the show is Rajendra Chawla who essays the role of the Dadusa. Fabulous character and great portrayal again.
The show might boast of the bond between Banni and Yuvan, but the grandfather and grandson scenes of Dadusa and Yuvan are a delight to watch. Also, the moments when Yuvan and his real mother are shown give you goosebumps.
Getting back to performances, Nikhat Khan has her scenes and moments in the show. In addition to this, there are good performers in Harsh Vashishth, Vishal Puri, Preety Arora, Pooja Singh, Neha Rana and an array of actors filling up the family premise.
The show has an added flavour of the musical touch in it. We look forward to more of this musical fervour being brought into the plot. Star Plus’ attempt at this kind of musical drama has been a success earlier with Kulfi Kumar Bajewala. With music being one of the root causes of Yuvan’s well-being, we look forward to more of the musical notes being scored in the future plots.
Overall, it is a great beginning must say!!
We at IWMBuzz.com credit 4 out of 5 stars for Banni Chow Home Delivery.
