Zee TV recently launched a new show named Bhagya Lakshmi produced by Balaji Telefilms. The show follows the journey of Lakshmi through the changes that come in her life on moving to Mumbai from Punjab after her parents’ demise.
While Lakshmi is a true believer in God’s plan and the power of goodness and destiny, Rishi is a flamboyant and practical businessman. The story unfolds as these two completely opposite characters meet in a twist of fate. The show features actors Aishwarya Khare and Rohit Suchanti in the lead roles as Lakshmi and Rishi, respectively.
Good Points
The show perfectly captures the essence of Punjab as it gives a glimpse of Punjabi wedding rituals. Lead actress Aishwarya’s performance as Lakshmi also left a mark as she managed to touch hearts with her endearing sincerity and warmth. Rohit also aces his role as the flamboyant, practical, and dashing Rishi. The casting of the show is apt. The attention to detail, the expressions of the actors, the costume, set, all prove that the job is done well.
Bad Points
This new drama is nothing out-of-the-box and is a typical daily soap. It has a usual selfless lead girl, a loving family, a greedy aunt. The show gives a déjà vu feel when we see the lead girl Lakshmi. Just like Balaji’s favourite girls Preeta, Pragya or Purvi, Lakshmi is an innocent yet mature girl. Apart from these points, the show also seemed to have been inspired by Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. The bus accident scene from the first episode of the show gave us the same feel.
The story has been really pacey as we have seen quite a lot of drama, and all of it has been engaging. The masala and drama quotient will only intensify with time and this show will do well, hopefully. We credit Bhagya Lakshmi with 2 out of 5 stars.
