Saath Nibhaana Saathiya the cult show on Star Plus reigned in an era where Kokila and Gopi Bahu set high standards on Indian Television. The show which aired for as long as 7 years not only created wonders on the rating chart, but also gave some iconic characters to the TV viewing audience.

It’s been three years since we bid adieu to these characters, but they have always lingered in our minds. That’s the effect Saath Nibhaana Saathiya left on loyal viewers.

And now, owing to public demand, the show and the hugely popular characters are back with a Season 2.

So how does the new plot look like?

The wait we must say, has been worth it!! Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2 produced by the inspirational Producer Rashmi Sharma has been given an interesting new plot with the amalgamation of the old, popular characters and new characters.

Kokila Modi (Rupal Patel) seems at ease!! It looks as though it is a cake walk for Rupal Patel to shed one role and get into another. A week back, she donned the role of Meenakshi Rajvansh. And now to see her in the Kokila Modi look, with very different mannerisms and lingo, the actress excels yet again!! She is the best Koki we can get!!

Gopi Bahu aka Devoleena Bhattacharjee is portraying the matureness in her character well. With the passage of years, Gopi and Kokila’s bond has only strengthened, and they are more united after the apparent demise of Ahem Modi.

However, the best news that has come to us in the new season is that of Ahem (Mohammad Nazim) being alive. Ahem now lives the life of a wrestler, a man with forgotten memory, called Gopi, because of the tattoo name on his hand.

Gehna (Sneha Jain) the new protagonist of the show reminds us of the days when we were introduced to Gopi. She seems to be the exact replica of Gopi in terms of her behaviour, mannerisms and attributes.

The new family that of the Desais, has been an interesting addition. The family has good amount of drama going amid the family members. Kokila’s ‘dharam’ bhai Praful (Aliraza Namdar) has a well-grown family. His three sons are Pankaj (Jay Pathak), Chetan (Prakash Vaghela) and Anant (Harsh Nagar). Kanak (Akanksha Juneja) is the wife of Pankaj, while Hema (Nadia Himani) is the wife of Chetan.

The family is well-served by Gehna who is an orphan, brought into the family by Praful. Praful and his wife Jamuna (Anuradha Kanabar) treat her as their child, while others in the family have a problem with it. Kanak and Hema hate Gehna and are looking at means to put her down.

Anant (Harsh Nagar) is the dutiful son, very devoted and disciplined in life. He has got his values from his hard-working father and sees his parents as his idol and inspiration. He is moved seeing the manner in which Gehna serves his parents.

The huge plus for the show is the kind of public interest it will garner owing to the huge success of its earlier season. Seeing the iconic characters of Kokila, Gopi and Ahem back in action, is like a dream that has finally come true for the loyal viewers of the show.

The new season story has been given the ingredients needed for drama. There is Kanak who is the main negative in the show now. She will soon be at the throat of Gopi and Koki and of course, will make life hell for Gehna. Considering that Kokila has it in her to handle situations tactfully, this will be a playout to watch for!!

The love story of Ahem and Gopi which was given a pause with his apparent death, and now the memory loss will be rekindled and that will bring in a new spark to the show. Also, Jaggi’s presence (Ahem’s look-alike) in Gopi’s house will complicate things further.

The only thought that is bothering is the manner in which the makers will balance between the families of Modis and Desais. Kokila and Gopi cannot stay forever in Praful’s house, can they? Of course, their Modi Mansion is waiting for them. And the loyal viewers are so used to seeing drama in that threshold.

We need to wait and watch on how the story is taken forward. What will be the impact on numbers once the Modis move out of the Desai family? Only time will tell…

As of now, the talking points about the show are the performances. Of course, Rupal Patel is stealing the show as always. Devoleena is pleasing in her own way. Mohammad Nazim we must say, has a lot of scope in the dual roles that he plays. Sneha Jain is a good find, no doubt!! Harsh Nagar seems apt for his role.

Aliraza Namdar and Anuradha are veterans in the craft, and are playing their part well. Akanksha and Nadia are simply wonderful as the negative bahus in the house. They pack a punch together for sure!! Jay Pathak and Prakash Vaghela are doing a good job.

The makers are sure to recreate the magic of the yester-year Saathiya by bringing in a few iconic scenes. The ‘Rasode Mein Kaun Tha’ track has only started the trend.

Overall, a good start to a show which is back on public demand!!

We at IWMBuzz.com give Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2, 3.5 out of 5 stars.
