Talented beauty, Vaishnavi Rao, has her hands full. Apart from two TV shows (Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Ravan and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai), she is now looking forward to the release of her maiden web series, Hey Prabhu, on MX Player on the 20th of this month.
“This free to air show focuses on how social media controls today’s youth’s lives. I am one of the five main characters who work in a SM company. The other actors include Rajat Barmecha, Parul Gulati, Pryanca Talukdar, etc.”
Although most web characters are bold, Vaishnavi says, “I play a normal 22-year-old gal, who gets taken in by the glitz and glamour of Insta, Facebook and Twitter.”
Prior to this, she had also done an award-winning short film titled Harmless. “The best part of web is that you get to play different types of characters, which is not possible on TV. ”
Shifting gears to her above Star Bharat TV show, Vaishnavi, who has done several tube projects (Beyhadh and Rishton Ka Chakravyuh) before, says, “My character Prachi is very bold and does not hide her feelings. Her life is constricted by her evil elder bro, Rivaaj (Ram Yashvardhan), who does not let her breath freely. In such a suffocating atmosphere, she soon decides to make a play for her bro’s friend, Bhanu. On the other hand, she loves her mentally challenged brother, Raghav (Sheezan Mohd).”
“As of now, Prachi has no link with the lead girl, Rani (Manul Chudasama), whom Rivaaj is chasing shamelessly. But over time, our characters will come in contact. Our title is appropriate for it shows that good girls too will need to do what it takes to get rid of the all – pervasive bad guys.”
Talking about atmosphere on set (Ek Thi Rani Ek Tha Ravan), Vaishnavi says, “All the actors are very cooperative and things are going smooth so far, touch wood.”
“As for Yeh Rishta, my character Manasi’s romance with Anmol (Karan Pahwa) will lead to the rapprochement of the Goenka and Singhania families, which had split due to the divorce between Naira (Shivangi Joshi) and Kartik (Mohsin Khan). I am very proud to be part of such an iconic project since the past one year. Recently, producer Rajan Shahi had thrown a huge party to celebrate 2000 episodes,” she adds.
Vaishnavi has no issues that lead characters have eluded her so for. “I have been lucky to get to play very strong characters as in Ek Thi Rani. For me, the juice in the role is always more important than anything else. Having said that, if a lead comes my way, I will surely grab it with open arms,” ends she.
