I like short and sweet assignments - Raqesh Bapat

Talented and dashing actor, Raqesh Bapat, is currently in London, shooting for his Colors show, Tu Aashiqui; his entry will be shown very soon.

Says the actor who is doing the show produced by Guroudev Bhalla, “The capital of Britain has become home, for I have now come here for the third time in four months. Prior to this, I was here for the shoot of my English film, Forever.”

“Normally, during overseas shoots, you are left to yourself. And you don’t have much to do after the shoot. But this time, with summer starting in the UK, there were a large number of people when we did outdoor locations. Several people also requested for autographs,” adds Raqesh.

When we ask what he feels about his new show, Raqesh is honest enough to admit that he does not watch TV, so has no clue about the show. “All I know is that my character Riyansh will become the third wheel in the relationship between Pankti (Jannat Zubair Rahmani) and Aahan (Ritvik Arora). I liked the narration and the team, so said yes.”

This is not the first time that Raqesh has entered an already running show. He had done so in Qubool Hai and Bahu Humari Rajni Kant. “I like it short and sweet. It is very tough for me to be a part of a show from start to finish, unless the script is really good, as in Saat Phere and Maryada. I need to move on, and it is very important to keep exploring as an actor.”

Here, he does not believe that being the last one to hold the sack will mean that the responsibility for the show shutting down will be on his shoulders. “No actor should feel that he or she alone carries a show or can end it. We just play our characters and if I am chosen, I must be having what it takes, right?”

Raqesh, who is also doing 2 Marathi films (John Abraham’s debut Marathi production and biopic on gangster Chota Rajan), says, “Both the mediums are different. TV is more hectic, while films are shot post lots of prep.”

Over the years, Raqesh has done several films, including Tum Bin, Dil Vil Pyar Vyaar, Koi Mere Dil Mein Hai and Heroine.

Looking ahead, Raqesh would also want to direct movies. “I am working towards it. My acting stint will make me understand the craft.”

Would you also be interested in acting on the web? “Why not? For me, the role is important, not the medium.”

We wish him luck and success.
