The Jogeshwari police arrested actress Bhagyashree’s husband, Himalaya Dasani, for his alleged involvement in a gambling racket being operated from a Lokhandwala Complex high-rise. As it is a bailable offence, Himalaya was granted bail the same day.
According to media reports, the police had earlier arrested 12 people on charges of operating the gambling racket. Himalaya’s name cropped up in the course of investigations into the alleged racket, on the basis of which, police arrested Himalaya from his residence.
In a tweet on her official Twitter handle, Bhagyashree proclaimed that her husband has been falsely framed in the offence as persecution for not giving in to ‘blackmail’. She did not elaborate further on the blackmail charge. She, however, berated the media for sensationalizing a story without first ascertaining the facts of the case.
Bhagyashree had shot to fame as the leading lady of Salman Khan’s superhit debut film, Maine Pyar Kiya, but gave it all up when she got married to Himalaya Dasani. Himalaya too had tried his hand at acting and producing films, with a dud called Payal. The couple’s son, Abhimanyu Dasani, recently made his Bollywood debut with the much-appreciated MardKoDardNahiHota.
