News coming in suggests that popular actor Manish Goplani may quit Zee TV show Yeh Teri Galiyaan (Cinevistaas Limited).Reason? His post leap entry in this story about Kolkata prostitutes has been delayed. We had earlier written that this flagship channel of the Essel Group had decided to extend the ongoing children track (Ruchi Mahajan and Ayaan Zubair Rahmani) by six months.

Interestingly, as opposed to the Sony TV show Sankat Mochan Mahabali Hanuman, where actor Nirbhay Wadhwa was made to wait for a year before his track finically came to the fore, here the channel has not bound both the leads (Manish and  Vrushika Mehra) by exclusive contract.

There were reports that the channel has left the ball in the court of Manish and Vrushika about waiting or not.

When we touched base with Manish he said, “I am still in touch with the channel /production house who are themselves unsure about leap time line.  I had asked them to get back to me by Janmashtami.  I am still waiting for their reply.  All said and done, I will not stay on if the leap will happen down the road.”   Manish’s  last full fledged show was Detective  Didi again on Zee which had not lasted long.

When asked about being given the option of being eased from the contract he says,  “We always had  the right to leave.”

In closing Manish pointed to the uncertainty of the duration of TV tracks which get summarily hacked or extended due to TRP fluctuations.

We also tried to reach out to Vrushika to find out about  future plans. But she refused to comment.  According to source Vrushika, who is also part of the ongoing Viu web series Tamanna, was naturally quite upset at the  delay of the onset  of her character.

Channel spokesperson did not revert to our query.

IWMBuzz will keep a track on the development.
