Television-viewing audiences are always crazy about the fiction shows they watch and about the characters and Jodis they love!! The love that viewers shower on their prime characters and the actors playing the roles is huge. It is hero-worship many times, and this is the kind of adulation the celebrities enjoy.
However, there are times when the hopes and enjoyment of the viewers come crashing down when there is any replacement of the lead characters in fiction shows owing to varied reasons. TV shows work on the basis of the numbers generated, and any change in the numbers will automatically give rise to major twists in plots.
Likewise, one development that we have seen happen many times is the replacement. There are many instances where the replacement which has been brought in, has been accepted well by audiences. In many scenarios, the script and plots are so strong that the actor replacements have not mattered that much, and there is an easy flow when the new actor comes in. However, there are instances where there is a total mismatch in the replacements coming in when compared to the actor who was earlier playing it. The reasons for this aberration can be a failure to get into the skin of the character and deliver, the body language, the look and appearance or the performance level.
In recent times, there have been a few shows which have seen such replacements being unrelatable, with respect to the character sketch of the person.
So let us take a look.
Karan Jotwani and Rajveer Singh in Qurbaan Hua:
Qurbaan Hua the Zee TV show produced by Full House Media was a unique love story where religion clash was shown to be the biggest hurdle. The love story of Neel and Chahat started from that of hatred to being immensely in love. Karan Jotwani who was the original Neel in the show looked good with Pratibha Ranta. Their Jodi brought in palpable energy, but there was a total mismatch in the way Neel looked when Rajveer Singh was brought in. A face damage story paved way for the new hero, but the basic physique of the actors was not matching. Agreed, Rajveer went on to do a splendid job in the role and his chemistry with Pratibha in fact overshone the original Jodi. However, the actors chosen did not have any kind of similarity in their bodies and features.
Dheeraj Dhoopar and Shakti Arora in Kundali Bhagya:
It came as a shocking heartbreak for all the Dheeraj Dhoopar fans when the actor decided to leave the long-standing show Kundali Bhagya on Zee TV. Produced by Balaji Telefilms, the couple Dheeraj and Shraddha Arya as Karan Luthra and Preeta Luthra looked magnificent together. Now, the chemistry is nowhere to be seen with Dheeraj gone. The incoming Shakti Arora, again, is a good actor. But he is nowhere closer to the macho-looking Dheeraj Dhoopar. It is disappointing that the Dheeraj-Shraddha magic in the show is over!!
Gashmeer Mahajani and Manasvi Vashist in Imlie:
The biggest shocker in terms of replacement happened in the show Imlie, the Star Plus presentation. Produced by Gul Khan, Gashmeer and Sumbul Touqeer became a rage as the leading Jodi in the show. Aditya Kumar Tripathi, the character played by Gashmeer became a household name. The fans of the show loved the Aditya and Imlie magic; they laughed with them and felt their pain when they were in sorrow. Gashmeer decided to leave the show to look for greener pastures. That was when Manasvi Vashist was brought in. Sorry to say, Manasvi never could get into the skin of the Aditya Kumar Tripathi that the audience loved!! He was a very bad replacement, given the weightage that the character had. Well, the saving grace for the show was that the plot had introduced a new hero in Fahmaan Khan already.
Vivian Dsena and Cezanne Khan in Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki:
Vivian Dsena and Rubina Dilaik’s chemistry in the Colors’ show Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki, in the roles of Harman and Soumya was sizzling. This Rashmi Sharma Productions’ transgender love story was unique when it came and the lead pair created all the buzz and noise. However, after a good run of the show, Vivian decided to move on. That was when his character was killed, only to be brought back later. Cezanne Khan came in as the new Harman. It was Cezanne’s comeback show after a long time, and he did not disappoint his fans. However, he did not look the Harman that the audience knew. The rough and tough nature of Harman was gone with Vivian. Cezanne was the neater and sleek version of Harman, we can say!! A look mismatch again, which did not appeal much!!
Pooja Banerjee and Tina Phillip in Kumkum Bhagya:
Kumkum Bhagya the Zee TV show produced by Balaji Telefilms enjoyed a great run and popularity. In addition to the lead jodi of Abhi and Pragya, the younger generation actors were accepted very well by the masses. The new age love story began with a bang. Pooja Banerjee who came in after the exit of Naina Singh in the role of Rhea was splendid. She had the class and poise to play the role. However, when Pooja left owing to maternity reasons, Tina Philip made her way in as the new Rhea. Well, the problem here in this replacement is that Tina has seldom looked the Rhea that we know of. She looks like a totally new and different character, perhaps, the love that Pooja got could never get fade.
Well, these are a few replacements in the TV of late that we believe, did not go down well with the audiences. What do you think about it? You can feel free to comment, argue and even disagree!!
