Well, one such big twist that broadcasters and makers indulge in is the pregnancy issue that the leading ladies of TV shows face, and the probable repercussions to it. Yes, there have been many Hindi fiction shows that have dwelled on this basic theme of the female protagonists not being able to conceive for varied reasons.

Imlie: The protagonist of the Star Plus show Imlie (Sumbul Touqeer) was diagnosed to be having problems owing to which she could not conceive. Big drama was placed in the narrative which led to the girl being humiliated and forced to seek divine blessings. Later, the makers brought in a big twist wherein Imlie got pregnant.
Tejo in Udaariyaan: Tejo the lead of Colors’ Udaariyaan was pregnant when the big tragedy of the fire accident happened to her. She was assumed to be dead. And when she got back into Fateh’s life and all was well, they planned to move ahead in life. However, Tejo was told by the doctor that she cannot conceive. This shattered the lives of Fateh (Ankit Gupta) and Tejo (Priyanka Chaudhary). Even now, that is the main reason why they have Nehmat in their lives. She is their adopted daughter.
Sai in Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin: Sai the protagonist of Star Plus’ Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin was again pregnant when the tragedy of Samrat’s death struck the Chavan family. In the moment of grief, she lost her child and was diagnosed to be having a problem owing to which she could not conceive. This brought about the surrogacy track in the show, wherein Patralekha (Aishwarya Sharma) was roped in as the surrogate mother. Saumya in Shakti Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki: Saumya, played by Rubina Dilaik was a kinnar (transgender) in the show and this story highlighted the pure love of Harman (Vivian Dsena) and Saumya. Mishti in Yeh Rishtey Hai Pyaar Ke: Mishti and Kuhu were sisters who had totally different traits. Mishti (Rhea Sharma) could not conceive and this resulted in Kuhu (Kaveri Priyam) being forced to become the surrogate mother. This actually brought about a clash between the sisters.
