Television fiction and the popularity that the lead Jodis of shows get is unpalpable. Leading couples of our favourite TV shows garner huge popularity and always become household names. There have also been instances where certain unexpected developments have led to actors getting replaced for varied reasons. Now we are moving ahead and talking about the scintillating and appealing actor replacements that have in fact added to the glory and success of TV shows.
So here we go with the most-apt replacements.
Shilpa Shinde and Shubhangi Atre in Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai:
Shilpa Shinde was outstanding in the lead role of Angoori Bhabhi in the &TV flagship show Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai. In the year 2016, she had a huge fallout after which she moved out of the show and an extremely popular character. After a huge search, Shubhangi Atre came in as the new Angoori Bhabhi. Shubhangi who is herself a very versatile actress has given her own identity to this lead character. She has been flourishing really well in this role to this day.
Hina Khan and Aamna Shariff in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2:
Hina Khan returned to Hindi fiction after playing Akshara in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Her comeback show Kasautii Zindagi Kay 2 saw her playing the negative lead, Komolika. Hina’s amazing style and aura uniquely defined the role. However, Hina’s new commitments meant that she had to leave the show midway. In came the equally stylish Aamna Shariff. Aamna was also making a comeback of sorts, and this role gave her a new spring of life as a performer. She was very well accepted by the audience.
Neha Mehta and Sunayana Fozdar in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah:
Neha Mehta had made the role of Anjali her own, in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah the long-running popular show. However, post the Covid restrictions and resumption, Neha did not find it apt to go out and work as she felt that the precautions taken might not be enough on the sets. In 2020, she made her way out and in came Sunayana Fozdar as the new Anjali. This was a very easy slip-out and slip-in into the popular character. Credit goes to Sunayana and of course, the team of writers who made it easier for this big change to happen.
Parul Chauhan and Niyati Joshi in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai:
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai saw the emergence of the new Goenka family with the entry of Kartik Goenka (Mohsin Khan) into the plot. Rajan Shahi’s blue-eyed girl Parul Chauhan who was a find to television with Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai was roped into this new family as the mother of Kartik Goenka. Parul looked her part and had a great time playing the important role. However, after a while, she decided to move on and look for greener pastures. That was the time when Niyati Joshi stepped in. She looked very convincing as her mother to Kartik. Niyati has stayed on and added value to her role and to the show.
Shaurya Shah and Tanmay Shah in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai:
Shaurya Shah was the first choice to play Kartik and Naira’s son, Kairav in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. He engaged the fans well in this role of his and quickly became the crowd puller on the show. However, even before he could settle into his own, a replacement was sought for certain reasons. In came Tanmay Shah who emerged as the cutest kid in tellydom. His onscreen presence with both Mohsin Khan and Shivangi Joshi was very popular.
Meera Deosthale and Toral Rasputra in Udaan:
Udaan the popular show was rocking at the time they planned a leap. Meera Deosthale as Chakor had hit decent popularity. However, when the leap was to happen, she did not want to play a mother. Hence she moved out. This brought in Toral Rasputra as Chakor. Toral carried forward the story from where Meera left it with utmost ease. Toral brought her maturity and sensibilities to the role and was accepted quickly by the audience.
Rajshri Thakur and Rati Pandey in Shaadi Mubarak:
Shaadi Mubarak saw the comeback of the Saat Phere leading lady Rajshri Thakur to television. Paired with Manav Gohil, Rajshri looked the perfect casting for Preeti. However, when she opted out owing to the very long hours of shooting, Rati Pandey came in. Even though the first look and initial thoughts about this replacement were not that overwhelming, Rati did catch up quickly. In no time, her chemistry with Manav blossomed.
Avneet Kaur and Ashi Singh in Aladdin – Naam Toh Suna Hoga:
Avneet Kaur and Sidharth Nigam’s onscreen chemistry in Aladdin- Naam Toh Suna Hoga made this show very popular. However, in the post Covid phase when shoots resumed, Avneet opted out of the show owing to health constraints. This was when Ashi Singh got in. Though a huge section of the audience could not look beyond Sidharth and Avneet Jodi, Ashi did manage to win the love and trust of viewers.
Shikha Singh and Reyhna Pandit in Kumkum Bhagya:
Shikha Singh in the role of the wily Aaliya Mehra was irreplaceable when Kumkum Bhagya started. However, when Shikha got into the family way, she had to opt-out. This brought Reyhna Malhotra in as Aaliya. Reyhna had her own style and prowess and it created wonders for the role. In fact, the makers were able to turn her character into a more evil persona post her entry.
