From Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka To Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2 And Balika Vadhu 2: TV Shows That Got Moved To OTT Platforms

A list of television shows that saw a shift to the OTT platform owing to low level of performance.

All television shows, launch with a tagline of being unique and different!! But with time, every plot appears the same and every twist seems predictable. After all, the TV viewing audiences have gotten smarter with time too. It has so happened that many fiction shows have failed to garner ratings, but have managed to indulge better in the OTT space. Hence there have been drastic moves taken of ending the show on television but to continue them exclusively on the OTT mediums.

Today we list out such TV shows that have eventually found shelter on OTT.

Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka: This complicated love tale produced by Sphere Origins aired on Colors. It focussed on some sensitive issues like changing relationships, love triangles and extramarital affairs. The show had Aditi Sharma, Drashti Dhami and Shakti Arora playing the lead roles. However, this out-of-the-box plot was too tough for the TV viewers to handle. It did not see an upliftment in numbers. Over time, the show saw a closure on TV and was moved to Voot where it had a substantially better run.

Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2: This love tale with an army backdrop was initially much-talked about for its uniqueness in concept. The show starred Mohit Kumar and Kanikka Kapur. The show produced by Bindu Moving Images and Team Studio Next, did not interest the fans, to the extent of having decent ratings. Later, the show was moved from Sony TV and found its place on its OTT platform, Sony LIV.

Ishq Mein Marjawan 2: The romantic thriller starring Rrahul Sudhir, Helly Shah and Vishal Vashishtha had all the elements of intrigue, romance and suspense in it to open amid good limelight. The show produced by Beyond Dreams later could not keep the ratings consistently above par and was forced to move to the OTT streaming platform, Voot.

Balika Vadhu 2: This interesting tale that was based on child marriage and its repercussions got launched with a lot of expectations. The original first edition was hugely successful and ran for years. With a lot expected from the second edition, Balika Vadhu in its second stint failed to generate the same interest. In fact, it was plagued by low ratings. This show produced by Sphere Origins had Shreya Patel and Vansh Sayani to begin with. The show was forced to take a leap and introduced popular faces like Shivangi Joshi, Randeep Rai and Samridh Bawa. But nothing worked in favour of the show. Ultimately it was moved to Voot after which it show its closure.

Fanaa – Ishq Mein Marjawan: This romantic thriller produced by Dipti Kalwani on Colors started with great aplomb. It had popular actors Zain Imam, Reem Shaikh and Akshit Sukhija creating a good impact. However, there was a lot expected from this brand of concept. But the ratings did not hold the plot in good stead. Recently, the show has been moved to Voot, with its stint on television ending.

Well, this has been a trend more or less found happening in channel Colors. The other channels have categorically ended the shows which have not worked on TV and given them a total closure.
