Television shows which have been predominantly shot outside Mumbai. Here is a list.

Mumbai has always been the hub for Television shows for decades now. From varied genres of concepts like social dramas, fantasy to mythological ventures, Mumbai’s sets has been most accommodating to all the different kinds of shows that the major GEC players have come up with. However, there have been a few shows which have been shot entirely out of Mumbai for certain reasons. The reasons have been different from budget constraints, the need for the constant usage of the backdrop setup of the place etc.

This trend of shooting out of Mumbai though was introduced as early as the year 2009, when Sudhir Sharma and Seema Sudhir’s 12/24 Karol Bagh was shot entirely in Delhi. Though there has been a dearth of shows going out of Mumbai after that, the last few years have seen many shows follow this pattern.

We give you a list of shows which have shot out of Mumbai.

Yeh Pyaar Nahi Toh Kya Hai: This romantic drama series produced by Dilip Jha’s Bindu Productions aired on Sony TV. The show was critically acclaimed for its out-of-the-box concept and performance coming from the stellar cast. The show was shot completely in New Delhi and Greater Noida. It had Palak Jain and Namit Khanna in lead roles.

Ek Duje Ke Vaaste 2: This romantic show based on the army background was produced by Dilip Jha’s Bindu Productions for Sony TV. The show was completely shot in Bhopal. It had Mohit Kumar and Kanikka Kapur in lead roles. Even the first edition of Ek Duje Ke Vaaste was shot in Delhi and Mumbai.

Teri Meri Ikk Jindri: This Prateek Sharma banner LSD Films show for Zee TV, had a good run and was a romantic saga. The show was shot fully in Amritsar, Punjab. Later, owing to a few constraints, the shoot was shifted to Mumbai. It had Adhvik Mahajan and Amandeep Sidhu playing the lead roles.

Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali: The Sandiip Sikcand and SOL Films show for Star Plus was totally shot in Kolhapur and had a strong backdrop of the place in its narrative. The show brought Sai Ketan Rao and Shivangi Khedkar playing lead roles. The show had a good loyal audience till it lasted!!

Udaariyaan: The Colors show produced by actor turned Producer couple Ravi Dubey and Sargun Mehta (Dreamiyata Entertainment) has been doing extremely well for the channel. It started as an underdog with no big names in its cast. Now, leads Ankit Gupta, Priyanka Chaudhary and Isha Malviya are extremely popular today. The show is shot in Chandigarh.

Sab Satrangi: The to-be-launched show on Sony SAB, Sab Satrangi produced by Saurabh Tewari’s Parin Multimedia is presently being shot in Lucknow. The show has Mohit Kumar and Kangan Baruah Nangia playing leads. The Producer was quoted saying in an interview that he will follow the hybrid model of shoot, wherein he will shuttle between Mumbai and Lucknow whenever the script demands.

Swastik Productions, the production house helmed by Siddharth Kumar Tewary and Rahul Tewary has constructed a huge shoot zone called Swastik Bhoomi in the outskirts of Mumbai, located in Umbergaon, Gujarat. All their shows, irrespective of the medium of work is being shot here.

Swaran Ghar: The upcoming Colors show produced by Dreamiyata Entertainment, will follow the path of Udaariyaan. Ravi Dubey and Sargun’s second show will also be shot in Chandigarh. The show has Sangita Ghosh, Ronit Roy and Ajay Singh Chaudhary playing lead roles.

Ghar Ek Mandir Kripa Agrasen Maharaja Ki: Produced by Zee Studios for &TV, which has Akshay Mhatre and Shrenu Parikh in leads roles is being shot totally in Jaipur.

Certainly, this trend is for sure to increase with many more channels and makers looking at more lucrative options of shooting outside Mumbai.
