Did Aalisha Panwar quit Colors show, Ishq Mein Marjawan, or was her track ended? News reports as early as last month had suggested that Aalisha was unhappy with the meat of her character and had decided to put in her papers. She was reportedly miffed with the fact that her once all-powerful double role character was reduced in importance, with more emphasis being given to Nia Sharma.
Sources had then also told us that she was serving her notice period, which ended around 15th of this month, which was her last day on set. She is being replaced by Sonarika Bhadoria.
Interestingly, producer Yash Patnaik (Beyond Dreams) has gone on record to state that the above news reports were wrong and that her track had ended.
“Please understand that Ishq Mein is a plot-driven thriller, unlike your character-driven daily show. We have already explored a lot with Aalisha’s Tara and Arohi outings. Had it gone on, things would have become repetitive. So it was decided to change the cast.”
But why only her exit? “Arjun Bijlani is the tent pole of the show and Nia is also doing well. Sonarika has just joined,” added he.
However, Aalisha sticks to her guns saying she had indeed quit, as she was unhappy with the way her track was panning out at the fag end of Season 2. “Accordingly, I spoke to my creative team and it was mutually agreed to ease out my character. No wonder, Tara recently died on the show.”
I have no problems with Yash and Mamta Patnaik or Colors. They are great people to work with,” ended she.
