Actors doing crossover projects have picked up great momentum in the last few years. Hindi actors are doing regional language projects and some great talents from regional cinema are working in mainstream TV. It goes without saying that regional cinema and regional actors have garnered a strong fan base over the years.
From delivering compelling performances to nail-biting storylines, these non-Hindi actors are like a breath of fresh air from the usual lot. Speaking of which, we have compiled a list of regional actors who have not only done some amazing work in their regional projects but also won us over with their talent in Hindi TV shows.
Monalisa: The queen of Bhojpuri Cinema has worked in more than 100 Bhojpuri films. Apart from Bhojpuri, Monalisa has also worked in other regional language films like Bengali, Oriya, Kannada, and Telugu. She rose to the ranks of stardom after her appearance in Bigg Boss Hindi and ever since then, her career certainly changed for the better. So far, she has been a part of interesting Hindi TV projects which include Nazar and Namak Issk Ka and audiences loved her work.
Sai Ketan Rao and Shivangi Khedkar: The young and talented actors rose to fame as Raghav and Pallavi aka Raghavi in Star Plus show Mehndi Hai Rachne Waali. However, not many are aware that, Sai Ketan started his career with a Telugu daily soap. Similarly, like Sai, Shivangi is also a popular Tollywood actress. Both are known names down south.
Kishori Shahane: She is a popular actress in the Marathi language film industry. The veteran actress has enthralled masses in Marathi blockbuster films like Ek Daav Dhobi Pachad and Navra Majha Navsacha. Later, she appeared in shows like Shakti – Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki and Ishq Mein Marjawan. And currently, she is playing the role of Bhavani Chavan in Star Plus popular show Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin.
Gashmeer Mahajani: The young man who has already earned a lot of fame in the Marathi film industry, came to Mumbai to fulfil his dream of establishing himself in the Hindi film industry. He made his acting debut with the Marathi film Carry On Maratha. He has now become a household name with his portrayal of the character Aditya Kumar Tripathi in the Star Plus show Imlie.
Aditya Ojha: The actor, who is popular for his action scenes in Bhojpuri films, began his acting career in 2011 with the Bhojpuri film Sugna. He has also played lead roles in Bhojpuri movies such as Rihaai, Border, and Shaadi Kar Ke Phas Gaya Yaar. Recently, he also made his television debut in 2020 with Namak Issk Ka.
Shehnaaz Gill: The Punjab Ki Katrina is a popular face in the Punjab entertainment industry. She made her debut with the Punjabi film Sat Shri Akaal England in 2017. However, she rose to fame after participating in the reality television show, Bigg Boss 13 in 2019. From her entry itself, she started entertaining the fans, and there was no dull moment around until the time she was present in the show. Though the actress didn’t win the reality show, she was able to win the hearts of the audience. The fans that she earned during her stay at the house are to date truly devoted to her.
