Sad news… indeed!!!
Yesterday, IndianWikiMedia exclusively reported about massive fire engulfing the sets of upcoming TV show Bepannaah (to beam on Colors).
Initial reports suggested no loss of lives, much to everyone’s relief, however, now we have learnt that the fire personnel brought out a charred body.
Post mortem report revealed that 22 year old Gopi Verma died in the fire. He was working in the capacity of a boom operator.
FWICE head B N Tiwari told IndianWikiMedia: “We are sad. Such a young and talented boy, gone so early. I have met the producers (Cinevistaas) and we are looking for a compensation of Rs 50 lakhs (including insurances). We are in talks with the producer body (IFTPC) and with support from the government are trying to ensure that all sets become fire compliant in next 15 days. Every life is valuable.”
J D Majethia from IFTPC added: “Yes, we are working towards making the sets safe and secure. Apart from necessary norms, ‘no smoking’ on sets rule should also be applied strictly.”
We texted channel spokesperson for a comment but did not solicit any response till the time of filing the article.
Spokesperson from Cinevistaas remained unavailable for a comment.
All we can say, it’s time the industry wakes up and smells the coffee.
RIP… Gopi.
