Sony TV’s Pehredaar Piya Ki has been the eye of the storm since its launch as it miffed many for allegedly glorifying child marriage.
The stir reached the corridors of power with the Ministry asking the channel to shift its airing timeslot.
When we last spoke to Sony top boss Danish Khan, he mentioned about the show being made in good spirit and intent and will see a leap as per schedule.
Originally, the young boy older woman plot had to be played out for good six months before the conceptual jump. The controversy forced the makers to flip fast through the script pages, looking for succor to breathe positive perception in a negative ambience.
Now, last night Pehredaar was not aired on Sony and this led to speculations. We hear that the day was heavy and challenging for all at Sony yesterday as the Ministry apparently asked them to shut shop with immediate effect.
Thus, the episode was not aired and in most probability Pehredaar has gone down the drain as the channel was also not too keen to beam it at the late 10.30pm slot.
So is it all over for Pehredaar or the channel will find some means to bring it back?
Sony topboss Danish Khan and producer Sumeet Mittal (Shashi Sumeet Mittal Productions) did not revert to our query.
However, a highly placed source in the industry confirmed the development.
IndianWikiMedia will soon come up with more updates.
