After Yeh Hai Mohabbatein, Sanjivani and Namah, yet another Star Plus show might be on its way out.
If sources are to be believed, late night Gul Khan production Nazar too might be in the red, just like weekender Divya Drishti (we had reported about it).
However, unlike Sanjvani, no clear plan has yet been chalked out to replace the above fantasy genre presentations.
Star is apparently waiting to see how Colors’ Naagin 4 does, before taking any call, as this genre sells, and even they want to replace Nazar and Divya Drishti with similar genre properties, though there is no guarantee that it will work.
So Nazar’s unit has not been officially informed of the extension of their contract, which will soon lapse. Rather, it has been asked to continue ad-hoc.
No prizes for guessing that Star must have spoken off record to Gul about when the show will end, for she needs to logically end the show and the replacement property needs enough time to get ready. Star also needs to market it well.
However, when we spoke to the Nazar cast, they outrightly denied any such happenings.
Lead actor Harsh Rajput went to the extent of saying that their contract won’t lapse in Dec Jan. But that is the truth, for the show started in July 2018, and most contracts are always for six months, so next pit stop has to be Feb.
Harsh went on to say that the show is going strong. “We have clocked over 350 episodes and are still going strong. I guess what works for us is the story, which even keeps us actors on the edge, wondering what will happen next.”
Many actors keep reminding us about the show’s first extension, which came only one week before the contract was about to expire. So they are hopeful of another similar miracle.
We tried to speak to Gul and the channel, but could not get through to them.
