As the #MeToo movement gains momentum in India, veteran TV writer, producer and director Vinta Nanda, in a detailed Facebook post narrated how she was raped and sexually abused by one of the most influential actors in Bollywood and TV nineteen years ago.
The ‘sanskaari actor’, as she calls him, was a drunkard and was pursuing the lead actress of a popular 90’s TV serial Tara.
Though Vinta has not directly taken the name of the person who humiliated her physically, reactions on social media overflowing with support for Vinta Nanda stated that the person is none other than Bollywood and TV’s popular senior actor, Alok Nath.
Alok Nath as we know, has acquired the ‘sanskaari’ tag by playing a series of virtuous and honorable father figures. Now, Twitter is buzzing with calls for him to be prosecuted and jailed.
Soon after Nanda’s revelations, celebrities extended their support to the Tara producer.
