The Big C doesn’t distinguish between its victims. The film industry is just about coming to terms with Irrfan’s battle with neuroendocrine cancer, when another devastating bit of news has hit like a ton of bricks.
On Wednesday morning, Sonali Bendre revealed, via an emotional Instagram post, that she has been diagnosed with high grade cancer, along with metastasis, and is undergoing treatment for it in New York.
After wooing her fans with remarkable work in numerous Bollywood films, Sonali Bendre had given it all up when she married filmmaker Goldie Behl. In recent years, she had transformed into a formidable presence on TV, winning over viewers’ hearts as a sensitive, intelligent, reality show judge and TV host.
She has judged numerous reality shows such as Indian Idol 4, India’s Got Talent, Hindustan Ke Hunarbaaz, and India’s Best Dramebaaz, among others, besides playing the lead in Life OK’s show, Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh.
Sonali recently stepped down as judge of popular Zee TV show, India’s Best Dramebaaz, which she had been hosting, along with Viveik Oberoi and Omung Kumar, due to “unforeseen personal circumstances”.
Huma Qureshi had taken her place as co-judge on the show.
