Producer duo Chhavi Mittal and Mohit Hussein’s YouTube series Pati Patni aur Baby is now being aired on Colors as a television show. The banner Shitty Ideas Trending (SIT) had earlier produced the series for YouTube and Facebook, which worked extremely well. The show has Karan V Grover, Chhavi Mittal, Pracheen Chauhan, Pooja Gor and Shubhangi Lithoria playing the main roles. The show will now air on Colors from today, 18 November 2024.

How did the idea originate for the Shitty Ideas Trending series Pati Patni and Baby, taking shape as a TV show on Colors?
We had been pitching some ideas to Colors to produce for television, but this was an offer that came from the channel itself. A lot of them watched the show, and they liked it. Colors had been toying with the idea of doing something different and disruptive. We sat together and decided that this would be a good experiment to stream it on Colors. So that’s how we started.
Is it the same series being shown on TV, or is it being shot again for TV? Can you explain?
Right now, this is an experimental project that we are trying. Basically, the show has been re-edited for the TV format. As of now, the existing episodes are being shown on TV. The audience on YouTube is very different from the TV audience. This is an experiment to see whether the TV audience receives the project as well as the netizens did. Eventually, keeping our fingers crossed, if things go well, we will be producing fresh episodes of the same project for TV.
This is a new trend of an OTT project being shown on TV. Do you think good concepts from OTT can be made for viewing on TV?
This is a tricky one to answer. There is no blanket rule. Some projects might work and some might not, but there is no hard and fast rule around it. Our concept will definitely work on TV. The faces in our show are all from TV. The stories are realistic. With the relatability factor being very good, we are confident that Pati Patni aur Baby will get loved across borders, age groups and platforms.
Does this OTT to TV shift mean that TV always has an upper hand on the audience. Your take on it.
We have seen in the past that so many individuals have made it big as social media celebrities, YouTubers, and content creators. Talking about people like Bhuvam Bam, Ranveer Allahbadia, etc, they have made a mark for themselves as YouTube celebrities. So it is not that TV always has an upper hand. There are a lot of times when OTT works well, and there are many times when TV has had the upper hand. It is a mix. Both are different from each other and have their own advantages and disadvantages.
What are your expectations with this TV phase of your hit project?
We expect that the TV audience also likes it as much as the YouTube and Facebook audience have liked. Keeping our fingers crossed at the moment. This will be the next step for us if this works. We have started it with a lot of positivity, hope and faith.
What are the upcoming ventures of the banner? Anything we can get in detail, please.
On SIT, we are working on a few new contents. We are also working on bigger things in the existing projects.
