I wish to start my own production house: Abhishek Gupta, Casting Director

Well-known Casting Director Abhishek Gupta wishes to start his own production house and live his dreams. Starting his journey at a young age, he has achieved a lot with the support of his family and friends form the industry.

Talking about his journey so far, he avers, “I belong to a middle class family from Panna (Madhya Pradesh). I left my hometown and came to Mumbai to achieve something big in life. I am glad that I am part of the TV industry to which I have given my 5 years. I started my journey at a young age and managed to work with various production houses. I have learnt a lot from every production house. Savitri (Flying Turtles), Laut Aao Trisha (24 Frames), Ishq Kills (Rowdy Rascals), Emotional Attayachar, Singhasan Battisi (Creative Eye), Service Wali Bahu (Village Boy Productions), Akbar Birbal (Triangle Films), Ghatotkach (Kothare Vision Production), Tera Baap Mera Baap, Partners have been the shows I have been part of. I have always focused on my work and given my best. I am also happy that production houses have appreciated my work and have given me opportunities in my life.”

When asked who has been his support in the industry, he shares, “I have always been supported by the people from the production houses I have worked for and channels that I have worked with me in my career. The creative director of my last show Tera Baap Mera Baap, Sudha Ma’am has been a great support. She is also like my sister who has been with me in my thick and thin. Akshay and Rahul Sir from Big Magic channel have given me two wonderful shows of my career. I think it has been a give and take relationship with some great people in this industry.”

Commenting on perfect casting by him for a show, Abhishek adds, “I feel the most important work in a show is the casting for it and it is the most difficult part too. I believe acting should be given the acknowledgment and not the looks. Now-a-days looks too matter; so we as casting directors also have to follow those guidelines. I feel new faces are very talented and they deserve a chance. Hence I enjoy casting newbies as they bring freshness to a show. I enjoyed working for Partners as a Casting Director as it is challenging to get perfect casting for a comedy show. I was satisfied with the casting done for Red Dot’s Yeh Hai Aashiqui (bindass). I feel that was one of my best shows as a casting director.”

Abhishek feels that Vikas Gupta is his inspiration in his field, he says, “I am inspired by Vikas Gupta. He has an amazing and inspiring journey in this industry. He worked as creative and started his own production house. He is an amazing human being too and a down to earth person. I really wish to work with him one day. I see myself starting my own production house as that is my dream.”

Wish you luck, boy!!
