Avika Gor has spent her entire life watching Indian television. The actress, who made her name as the child bride Anandi in the 2008 film ‘Balika Vadhu,’ has worked nearly nonstop in television and South Indian cinema. “I did take a break for nearly a year in 2017 after my tenure on ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ ended and before taking up ‘Laado 2 – Veerpur Ki Mardani,'” the 23-year-old says when asked if she regrets working without a break. “It was because I wanted to be sure I actually wanted to act, as I seemed to prefer dancing and directing at the time.”
“I had also pondered taking a long sabbatical during the transition period before returning as a completely different person. However, I’m pleased I didn’t do that since it would have harmed my audience connection.” She argues that she did not miss out on a normal upbringing because she worked nonstop. “Success so early in life can get to your head, but fortunately, I’ve been surrounded by individuals who have kept me grounded, notably my parents.” “I never felt like I was missing out on a normal childhood since I went to school and did what I enjoyed acting and dancing,” she explains.
Avika, on the other hand, has lost 13 kilograms in the last several months. She claims, however, that the metamorphosis has been more inside than external for her. “Physical transformation happened because I focused on transforming from within,” she explains. “I’d grown accustomed to being in the spotlight thanks to television. I had the impression that even if I wasn’t giving my all, people still cared about me. I had the impression that people liked me just the way I was and that I didn’t need to do Anything special. Professionally, I was doing well, but I wasn’t pleased.”
