Hollywood’s Award Season officially kicked off with the 76th Golden Globe Awards. The marvelous ceremony took place at the Beverly Hilton and was indeed a star studded affair. Bohemain Rhapsody Wins ‘Best Motion Picture’ Ahead of A Star is Born: In the biggest shocker of the night was Bohemian Rhapsody Won Best Motion Picture – Drama over people favourite ‘A Star Is Born’. The Freddie Mercury biopic was a box office hit, but the film was accused of playing very loose with the facts re: Mercury’s story and mixed reviews (it stands at 48% with Top Critics on Rotten Tomatoes). And yet, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association applauded it.
Rami Malek Wins Best Actor In A Motion Picture (Drama) For Bohemian Rhapsody: Fan Favourite, Rami Malek won the Golden Globe award for his performance as Freddie Mercury in Queen Biopic ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. Considered the best act of his career, He won the award over fellow nominees Bradley Cooper, Willem Defoe, Lucas Hedges, and John David. Bohemain Rhapsody is the highest-grossing music biopic of all time
Alfonso Cuaron Wins Best Director for ‘Roma’: Alfonso Curaon created history by winning best director for Roma, a black-and-white Spanish-language film, one of the most critically lauded movies of awards season, was inspired by Cuaron’s life growing up in Mexico City. This win marks Cuarón’s third Golden Globe victory and is also the 4th time a Mexican Director has been victorious in the last six years.
Glenn Close Beat Lady Gaga To Win The Best Actress In A Motion Picture: In an absolute shocker, leaving fans worldwide shocked and disappointed, Glenn Close won the award for the best actress in a motion picture for ‘The Wife’. Lady Gaga’s debut ‘A Star is born’ was praised by audiences around the globe and she was expected to clinch the award.
‘Green Book’ Wins Bags 3 Awards: Defying all odds, Green Book bagged 3 Awards at the 76th Edition of the Golden Globe Awards. Green Book won the award for Best Musical/Comedy Picture and Best Screenplay of a motion picture. Mahershala Ali won his first Golden Globe Award with Greenbook for the best supporting actor.
