Following the successful launch of “Laughter Chefs,” COLORS is thrilled to announce the premiere of its new sitcom, “Zyada Mat Udd.” This show promises to deliver mid-air madness right to your screens! Starring Shehzad Shaikh, Helly Shah, and Aishwarya Sakhuja, it will debut on March 8th and will be aired every Saturday and Sunday at 11:00 PM.
Attention ladies and gentlemen, your weekends are about to be a laugh riot! Immediately after navigating the chaos of kitchen in Laughter Chefs, COLORS is ready to take you on a turbulent ride into the quirky world of aviation with its new sitcom, ‘Zyada Mat Udd’, where the weather forecast predicts zero logic, high-altitude chaos, and unexpected mishaps. So please unfasten your sense of humour, as the upcoming show brings viewers hasi ka boarding pass and a quirky cabin crew that guarantees complimentary ‘asuwidha’.
Packed with hilarity, the storyline follows Goldie Khurana (played by Shehzad Shaikh), who had his inheritance on autopilot — until a storm hits! After the untimely passing of his father, the heir to Air-Aasman Airlines learns that his seat at the top isn’t reserved just yet. The airline board throws a major plot twist, stating that he must earn his wings by winning the coveted Flight Attendant of the Year award if he wants to take over. Goldie goes incognito as Gopal, a rookie steward navigating a world of back-to-back flights and backbreaking work with no option but to buckle up.
Joining him is Kajal Thakkar (played by Helly Shah), a confident and ambitious air hostess who sees Air-Aasman as her runway to a luxurious life. She believes that marrying a rich man is her ticket to a better future, unaware that her fellow crew member is the heir of Air-Aasman. Then there’s Shilpa Srivastava (played by Aishwarya Sakhuja), the sharp and authoritative head stewardess who runs a tight ship, or rather a cabin, and ensures that Gopal, aka Goldie, doesn’t have it easy.
Passengers aboard Air-Aasman should be less worried about calamities and more about the spectacular incompetence of its crew that doles out setbacks rather than dealing with them. Amid this whirlwind, will Goldie’s cover as Gopal crash and burn with a crew that turns every flight into a comedy of errors? Starring Shehzad Shaikh as Goldie aka Gopal, Helly Shah as Kajal Thakkar, and Aishwarya Sakhuja as Shilpa, ‘Zyada Mat Udd’ premieres on 8th March and thereafter airs every Saturday – Sunday at 11.00 pm only on COLORS.
Expressing his excitement about playing Goldie, aka Gopal, Shehzad Shaikh says, “Goldie is a man who has always lived a life of privilege, with success handed to him on a silver platter. But now, he’s been thrown into the deep end—stripped of his status and forced to take orders instead of giving them. His journey from a cushioned heir to a struggling steward is a turbulent ride of comedy, chaos, and self-discovery. That makes Zyada Mat Udd so unique—it’s a show packed with humor and heart, where every hilarious mishap brings Goldie closer to understanding what true leadership means. It’s an absolute privilege to be entrusted with a fresh concept. An aviation-based sitcom is a rarity, and I’m truly grateful to be at the helm of something so novel. I can’t wait for audiences to board this madcap flight with us!”
Talking about her role as Kajal, Helly Shah shares, “My character Kajal is ambitious, sharp, and ready to chart her course, but with a shortcut. She sees Air Aasman as a stepping stone to a life of comfort and is convinced by her mother through her tarot card tricks that marrying rich is her golden ticket. Little does she know, the person she’s searching for is right under her nose, serving in-flight refreshments! That’s the charm of Zyada Mat Udd—it fuses humor with compelling character arcs set against the backdrop of an industry rarely explored on television. Coming back to COLORS after four years makes this project even more special, and stepping into a genre so different from my past work is both exciting and refreshing. Exploring comedy in such an unconventional setting is a fantastic challenge, and I’m eager for audiences to join us on this journey.”
Talking about her role as Shilpa, Aishwarya Sakhuja shares, “I’m thrilled about essaying Shilpa, who’s not just the boss of the cabin crew but someone who dreams of becoming a Bollywood superstar. She had to take an unexpected detour into the world of Air Aasman after a short stint in B-grade movies. She channels her inner diva in front of the crew by making their lives difficult—making her the boss who everyone loves to hate. What makes Shilpa even more interesting is that she isn’t an out-and-out good or bad character. She has layers, flaws, and vulnerabilities—just like all of us. Through this journey, she will learn and grow through those flaws. That’s what makes her so real and engaging. Zyada Mat Udd is special because it brings a completely new setting to television, packed with humor, chaos, and wonderfully flawed characters yet incredibly relatable. COLORS has again pushed creative boundaries with this unique concept, and I’m looking forward to spearheading it!”
The sitcom boasts an ensemble crew featuring Gaurav Amlani as Anees Rizvi, the Ruffian who has a soft spot for Kajal; Bhawsheel Sahni as Chanpreet ‘Touchy’ Chatwal, the crew’s sensitive soul; Rewati Chhetri as Liza Wangsu, the queen of morbid humor and a self-proclaimed master of organization; Vishal Malhotra as Ranjeet Arora, the smooth-talking pilot with a mischievous streak; and Tarranum Khan as Anu Arora Ahluwalia, the no-nonsense pilot with a touch of sass. Additionally, Vivek Mushran plays Satish Khurana, Goldie’s flamboyant deceased father who comes as a ghost to give Goldie a reality check. At the same time, Rajesh Balwani takes on the role of Ferrero, Goldie’s ever-reliable Man Friday.
The show features some of the entertainment industry’s most prominent faces as guests, including the charming Kunal Karan Kapoor, veteran comedian Guddi Maruti, and versatile actress Neelu Kohli, as they navigate the whirlwind chaos of Air Asmaan.
The flight of laughter will take off in ‘Zyada Mat Udd’; premieres on 8th March and thereafter airs every Saturday – Sunday at 11.00 pm only on COLORS.
