Bollywood legends Hema Malini and Gulzar joined celebrated author and producer Ram Kamal Mukherjee at Silver Jubliee celebration of HarperCollinsIndia in Delhi at Imperial Palace.
Formally greeted by Executive Editor Shantanu Roy Choudhuri of HarperCollins, Hema had an informal chat with biographer Ram Kamal Mukherjee on his forthcoming book Beyond The Dreamgirl. “I don’t think I have yet achieved anything major that needs to be chronicled. But Ram Kamal insisted that he has observed me and there is a lot beyond my Bollywood career,” said Hema in her candid style.
Veteran director, poet, author and urdu exponent Gulzar surprised Hema with his presence. “Hemaji is a true feminist. The difference is that she doesn’t talk about it. Her life is a documentation of the fact,” said Gulzar who is also writing his first novella for HarperCollins.
Noted author turned producer Ram Kamal said jokingly, “Hemaji and controversy walks hand in hand. I thought of renaming the book as Politically Incorrect Hema Malini, but later decided not to.”
The biography will officially be launched in October 2017.
