As Anette Bening says – “Acting is not about being famous, it’s about exploring the human soul.” The Kirdaar workshop offer professional training for those just beginning or wishing to further their career into acting.
Within its curriculum, there is no ‘character’ or pretence… the participants are placed in an environment that allows them to be who they are, building self-awareness and self-esteem within their own unique personality. The idea of ‘copying’ someone else’s performance is pushed aside as actors create from within themselves to fulfil the required role they may be asked to portray.
This four day workshop (August 9-12, 2018)is designed for aspiring actors who wish to explore acting for the first time or who wants to strengthen their stage skills. The class also enhances those whose careers involve any type of public speaking.
Acclaimed film directo r Syed Ahmad Afzal will elaborate on the director-actor relationship in the pre- production and on-set stages of a film. The actor will get to understand the Director’s perspective in the process of translating the character from the script to screen. Emphasis shall be given on how to strengthen the collaboration between the Director and Actor on various aspects of film making.
Beginning with senior journalist and senior casting director Kunal M. Shah who will take the participants through the process of pitching oneself as a professional actor in the film Industry. Mock auditions conducted by him during the workshop, will help the participants prepare for various professional auditions. The workshop will include a session on key pointers to choose a role.
Senior theatre actor Kulvinder Bakshish will elaborate on the various techniques & methods of Acting and ways to implement them on a film set. Practical sessions of scene and character development will be held during the course of the workshop.The workshop will also cover subtext and layering in acting.
