Sony SAB to bring legendary writer P. L. Deshpande alive on-screen in its upcoming show ‘Namune’

Sony SAB promises to give its viewers their daily dose of happiness and has kept their word with some of industry’s most popular and long-running shows. The channel will soon be launching its weekend programming with ‘Namune’, bringing the legendary writer P. L. Deshpande and his characters alive on-screen. Purushottam Lakshman Deshpande, fondly known as PuLa, was a Marathi writer and humourist and is revered and recognized as ‘Maharashtra’s beloved person’. People could relate to him and his characters, owing to the uniqueness of his humor and inspiration from everyday life.

Produced by Dashmi Creations along with creative producers Swapna Joshi Waghmare & Manish Raisinghani, ‘Namune’ will see an array of seasoned actors from the theatre and television space. Niranjan, an insurance agent, will be played by Kunal Kumar. Sanjay Mone as P.L. Deshpande helps Niranjan hack the intricacies of life. Niranjan’s wife Bhairavi Agnihotri (Toral Rasputra), mother Kaushalya Agnihotri (Farida Dadi), his children Kavya (SaloniDaini) and Lalit (Aryan Prajapati) will be seen playing pivotal roles. Visible only to Niranjan, PuLa – with his characters – teaches him to live life to the fullest and the art of finding joy in little things around him. Few of the most iconic P.L. Deshpande characters, such as Gampu, Babdu, Ranga, NamuParit and others will be seen during the course of the show.

On speaking about this ambitious venture, the producer of the show, Nitin Vaidya said, “It is an absolute privilege to bring alive the renowned characters of the Marathi legend P. L. Deshpande on-screen in Hindi. We have some infinitely talented actors to do justice to the show.  I am sure viewers will be able to connect well with the stories.”
