When it comes to celebrities, it seems like everything they do is under a magnifying glass, considering so many young people look up to celebs, it can become especially crucial that stars act as role models when they are in the public eye. Luckily, there are many celebrities who put their status toward good causes and use their influential voices and personas to inform society about important issues that affect all of us. One such noble deed has been done by the actor Shefali Jariwala for her birthday.
Commenting on this Shefali says “I have been reading up on this for past couple of days, with the depleting stock in blood banks, I thought why not do something that needs immediate attention and awareness. Usually I keep things low on my birthdays, but I feel this year we need to talk and take action with the blood scarcity at hand.”
The collection has been badly affected because of the Covid-19 lockdown, unlock situation, as colleges where camps are regularly held, were shut.
Shefali adds, “I urge everyone who is healthy and eligible for blood donation to please come forward and help out in these times of crisis.”
Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and state’s public health and family welfare minister Rajesh Tope had made repeated requests over the last few days to motivate citizens to come ahead and donate blood. According to recent status, there are 19,059 units of blood and 2,583 units of platelets in 344 blood banks in Maharashtra out of which 3,239 units of blood and 611 units of platelets are in 58 blood banks in Mumbai.
