My small-screen projects are my priority: Rohan Gandotra

Rohan Gandotra, who is handling two wives on screen in Colors show, Dil Se Dil Tak, would not be able to do so in real life. “This is only possible on TV.”

“The show began with a surrogacy theme, but now it has becomea tale of how one man is forced to live with two women. This arrangement is difficult for Indian audiences to digest, but we are still trying to show the pureness of our love.”

Rohan has recently replaced Sidharth Shukla, who was playing the character of Parth before. “There were many controversies before I entered, but now things are quite good. I have come in with a positive approach. There were fears that our TRPs would drop, post-Bigg Boss, but nothing such has happened, and we are going ahead, all guns blazing. This Shashi and Sumeet Mittal production has already clocked 250 episodes, and hopes to complete a 1000.”

Coming to his on-screen pairing with Teni, he says, “People are loving our chemistry. Co-actor, Jasmin Bhasin, is a very sweet, friendly girl. What I like best about her is that she always says what is on her mind. We have become very good friends in a short period of time.”

As regards his other on-screen wife Shorvori, who recently returned to the scene, he says, “Today is Rashami Desai’s birthday, and we hope to celebrate it post-shoot. Unlike others actors who are only concerned about their own looks and performances, she stops the shoot if she notices that my hair is not in place, or if there are some other issues. She’s very co-operative indeed.”

Rohan, who began five years back with Everest, is quite satisfied with his career growth.“I have worked with all the major channels. Had the above Ashutosh Gowariker-produced Star Plus show run a longer time,it would have connected with many more people. I then went on to do two back-to-back Zee TV shows, i.e. Qubaool Hai and Kaala Tikka.”

Looking ahead, like most TV actors, Rohan too has big film dreams. “I would love to collaborate with a known set-up. But for the moment, my small-screen projects are my number one priority.”

Besides Dil Se Dil Tak, Rohan will also be seen in the upcoming Season 2 of ALTBalaji show, Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat, featuring Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. “I am playing the love interest of Karan Khanna’s (Ram) daughter, Trisha. Some other actor was essaying the same role in Season 1.”

“Web is very easy to do; you can improvise. Having said that, Karre Le has lots of TV detailing. The best part here is that, all the other actors apart from Ram and Sakshi, Sameer Kochhar, Shweta Kawatra and me– also get ourdue screen space.”
