Being away from the hustle and bustle of the city to a hill station can be fun and rejuvenating. But what happens when the fun and frolic turns into the unexpected delay and full of unpleasant surprises!
The entire crew of ‘Ek Deewaana Tha’ – Namik Paul, Donal Bisht, Vikram Singh Chauhan and producer Prateek Sharma, among others were on a four-day outdoor schedule at Manali. But little did they know that their moment of joy will be short-lived when they got stranded for good five hours owing to heavy snowfall.
The crew was shooting the current track where Shiv (Namik) continues to plague Sharanya (Donal) and Vyom (Vikram) and had Namik buried under deep snow. Everything was to go smoothly as planned but soon things took a different course.
Said Prateek Sharma, “Namik was shooting for the sequence and on Thursday morning, we were informed that his body double had to drop out, because of which Namik himself had to bury under the snow for almost half an hour. It was a difficult shot wherein we had to get Namik to breathe using a hollow wooden stick, and we somehow managed it well. Furthermore, we had to shoot in Manali, because our current track demanded a snow-based location. We travelled to Hatim Pass, situated 50-60 km away from Manali. But on our way back after the shoot, suddenly it started snowing heavily and we had to stop midway, leading to the entire crew being stranded.
We could not make calls or reach out to anyone as the network was down. The snowfall continued and the situation went completely out of control. Luckily few villagers spotted our car and came to our rescue just in time. They helped us with blankets and food until the snowfall came to a halt. We then shoveled the snow along with the villagers to clear the road and get back on our ride. Obviously, we had to drive slowly which took us a lot of time to reach our hotel. However, we somehow managed. We thanked the villagers for their hospitality and help. If they would not have spotted us in time, we probably would not have made it back to our hotel.”
