Joy Banerjee’s ‘luck by chance’ moment in Loktantra

Model-turned-actor Joy Banerjee, who earlier did telly commercials with Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Priyanka Chopra, Saif Ali Khan among others, recently bagged a show by chance. The dashing actor will be seen playing not only one, but three characters in upcoming mega historical series helmed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi.

Dwivedi, best known for directing the epic TV show Chanakya, in which he also played the title role, is coming up with a show ‘Loktantra’. It will be a mini series of stories of nine great Indian kings and their system of administration. The show will be aired on Doordarshan on Independence Day and will be kept in the library for IAS aspirants. Joy will be seen playing Arjun, Laxman and Chandragupta Vikramaditya.”

Talking about how did he bagged the roles, Joy said, “I firmly believe, you get what you are destined to. Probably that’s the reason why I bagged this show. I went to drop one of my friends for the audition, where one of the casting director asked me to give the audition. As I was not prepared, so I came back home, recorded the audition and send it to the casting director. The next day I got the call, that I am shortlisted to play Arjun. Everything happened so fast that I couldn’t get time to even think.”

The actor feels he is blessed to get an opportunity to act under the supervision of Pinjar and Mohalla Assi director. “Dwivedi sir himself is an encyclopedia of Indian history. I am delighted and overwhelmed that I am part of such a fabulous show, which will be directed by him,” says Joy.
