Nandita Das is preparing to direct another interesting film after helming the critically acclaimed 2018 biographical movie Manto, which starred Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Nandita Das has enlisted Kapil Sharma to play the character in her yet-to-be-titled film. Nandita and Kapil have been conversing for a long time, and the final paperwork is in the works. “Nandita and Kapil are both really thrilled to work on this project together. They come from quite different worlds, so there’s bound to be something wonderful going on.
They’re both looking forward to collaborating and challenging each other’s limits. Once the final documentation is completed, they will figure out the dates as well as other details. Nandita Das is going to be co-producing alongside Sameer Nair’s Applause Entertainment on the film.” In addition to Manto, Nandita directed Firaaq, a 2008 political drama starring several actors. Kapil Sharma has previously appeared in films and is currently occupied with his TV sensation, The Kapil Sharma Show.
Nandita recently guest-starred on the web show Call My Agent: Bollywood and has a role in Venu Udugula’s Telugu historical drama Virata Parvam, starring Rana Daggubati and Sai Pallavi. She also directed, wrote, and acted in a short animated film called The Cuber, in which her son played the starring role.
