Shweta Gautam, Madhu of Colors’ Bepannaah (Cinevistaas Ltd) recently celebrated her first Eid post her marriage to actor Afzaal Khan.
For the much-in-love Jodi, love is beyond any culture barrier, and the family of Afzaal gave a grand welcome to their bahu in Lucknow!! For Shweta, their warmth and acceptance meant a lot.
Says Shweta, “As you know, Afzaal and I have a culture difference, with me being a Hindu, especially a vegetarian. When I went to Lucknow to celebrate my first Eid with his family, I realized that where there is love, there is no barrier at all. Usually, you would see a lot of issues erupting in such a marriage. But my personal experience has only made me happy. My mother-in-law made sure that I feel comfortable. When the whole food platter is usually filled with non-vegetarian dishes, she had organized to make kachori, puri and chaat especially for me. That was so sweet of her. Also, I was very much excited to get ‘Eidi’ from Afzaal’s family. Not only his immediate family, but his cousins and extended families too gave me such a warm welcome. For a girl like me who comes from a different culture, this was so special. All this has made me believe that where there is love, there can be no cultural barrier.”
