Nia Sharma Thinks Actors Are Given More Respect In Web Platforms Than On Television, Says “Television Actors Are Taken For Granted”

Nia Sharma opens up on actors being given more respect on web platforms than TV

Actress Nia Sharma is a natural when it comes to her acting prowess. She has been part of some successful work on TV like Kaali – Ek Agnipareeksha, Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai, Ishq Mein Marjawan, Naagin 4 etc.

After working a lot in the TV medium, Nia is nowadays seen mostly in music videos and also in web projects. She has made the conscious decision of staying away from television. In a recent interview with SpotBoye.com, Nia explained her thought process on the same. We take reference from that story for our write up here.

Nia shared, “I feel, if you are working on a TV set, you’re working day in day out. You’re taken for granted. You’re treated like a mule, not like an actor. I feel that in the world of web series, things are far better and actors are given due respect.” The Naagin actress ventured into a digital platform with Vikram Bhatt’s 2017 series ‘Twisted’. She had also been a part of the show Jamai 2.0, which was released on ZEE5.

Nia said, “I grew up watching item songs like Chaiyaa Chayiaa, Chamma Chamma, Bidi Jalaile, Munni, Sheela ki jawani and always swooned over how stunning all those women looked in the songs. I never knew I’d be the one getting an item number like ‘ Phoonk Le’ I was killing myself thinking how I’d even pull it off, I rehearsed day and night as I am not a professional dancer. I went to extreme levels where I worked out immensely, stopped eating much, and gave it my all.”

Well said, Nia!!
