Shashi Mittal’s tribute to Ahmedabad in Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai

Sony Entertainment Television’s new show ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’ set in the 90’s era has been winning audiences love all over. The show narrates a heart-touching romantic tale about the magic of first love and confusing emotions interlaced with sensitivity and humour. The creative team of ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’ left no stone unturned to recreate Ahmedabad from the earlier era. Extensive research was done by the team and special inputs were provided by Shashi Mittal who was born in Ahmedabad and is also the writer and producer of the series.

When contacted Shashi Mittal confirms, “Yes, Sumeet and I have actively worked with the creative team to ensure that we are able to recreate the look and feel of Ahmedabad in the series. The streets and localities where I spent my childhood were destroyed in the earthquake that devastated the city in 2001. In a way by rebuilding the cityscape on the sets, this is my tribute to the city of my dreams. I have a deep emotional connect with Ahmedabad and we have tried our best to maintain the ethnicity of those times viz. shop names, dressing sense of the local citizens, popular snacks and brands have been used in the series.”

Inspired from the real life story of the show producers Shashi and Sumeet, ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’ is a coming of age love story of Naina – a stoic, witty and fearless girl (played by Ashi Singh) & Sameer – a large hearted, flamboyant and obstinate boy (played by Randeep Rai). In a time, untouched by smart phones, it’s an exploration of teenage love, with all its innocence, inexperience and anxieties.
