After a strong run of around 400 episodes, &TV’s social drama, Waaris is coming to an end and viewers will witness the final episode on 1st December 2017. Set against the backdrop of Punjab, the show was perceived as a refreshing change to Indian television. Waaris traced the journey of a girl Manpreet aka Manu whose identity was hidden by her own mother Amba and was raised as a boy under adverse circumstances. The show dealt with how in some parts of India even today a son is given more importance as compared to daughters and assumed to be the rightful heir. Furthermore, the show beautifully portrayed the story of a mothers’ love and care towards her offspring and the extent to which she can go to protect them.
With leaps and evolutions in the story, Waaris struck an emotional chord with viewers. Reigning for about a year and a half, the actors are all set to bid adieu to their viewers. The lead cast consisted of Aarti Singh as Amba, Farnaz Shetty as Manpreet and Neil Motwani as Raj.
Aarti Singh, who played the role of Amba said, “Playing the character of Amba was a huge responsibility and a refreshing change compared to the other roles I’ve donned in the past. We are disappointed with the show coming to end but we’re all very thankful and cherish our experiences. The show was initiated with a purpose and I believe we’ve been successful to some extent, which makes it easier for us to put a happy ending to this journey.”
Farnaz, who essayed the role of Manpreet said, “Waaris has been a beautiful chapter in my life. Playing Manpreet was challenging yet fulfilling and I am hoping that I have done in fighting for many girls like Manpreet.” Talking about her team, “I have learnt a lot from everyone and as a team, we bonded very well. It’s disheartening to see everyone go in their own direction but I know we are going to be in touch.”
With this chapter ending, we wish everyone nothing but the best and hope they’re as successful as this in their future endeavours.
Make sure to tune into &TV on the 1st of December 2017 to catch the last episode of Waaris.
