Rajan and Deepa Shahi’s “Anupamaa” has dealt with many social issues in the past. The show has now taken up the issue of domestic violence and we will get to see that Malvika was a victim of it.
The Friday episode of the show started with Samar blasting Kavya and Nandini over the conversation they were having. Kavya had earlier told Nandini that once she gets married to Samar, she should live separately, otherwise she will have to see a lot of fights and arguments in the house which will affect her and Samar’s relationship. Samar tells Nandini that it’s not the house but the people living there who fight and if she has a problem with it then she should think about her choice again. Nandini tells Samar that Kavya is worried about Malvika, to which Samar tells her that she is there only for a couple of days and there was a time when Kavya also used to come to their house. Samar tells Kavya that he appreciates that she is throwing a New Year party for them but asks her to not make it her agenda.
Meanwhile, Anupamaa and Malvika are playing hopscotch, and Anupamaa wins it. She asks Malvika to come for the New Year party with them and tells her that if something is troubling her then she should fight it and not give up. She tells them about the incident on her 25th wedding anniversary when she found Vanraj and Kavya in her room, and asks her to move on and not give the pain so much power.
At the Shah house, everyone is ready for the party and are waiting for Anupamaa, Anuj and Malvika to come. Anupamaa and Anuj too are waiting for Malvika. She comes wearing a robe and Anuj thinks that she is not going, but to their surprise she is ready. When they are leaving, they witness a domestic violence case in the building which leaves Malvika in an inconsolable state.
In the upcoming episodes we will see that Anuj is giving medicine to Malvika and Anupamaa asks him what it is for. He tells her that it’s for her depression. Anuj then tells her that Malvika was in an abusive marriage and he is the reason why his sister had to face so much. We can see Malvika in an uncontrollable state asking to not hit her.
