COLORS’ Choti Sarrdaarni is a show which has always taken a stance against important issues in society. Meher (played by Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia), has come a long way in the show. Be it her relation with Sarabjit (played by Avinesh Rekhi) or facing her past; Meher has met every challenge in her own way and emerged a winner. Now, Meher will be tackling the very serious issue of domestic violence that she sees around her. Not one to back down, Meher will tackle that and take a stand against Sarab who refuses to believe her.
In the current track of the show, there is a Qawwali competition between Sarab and Meher amidst the tension of Meher wanting to unmask Tarkash who has been violent towards his wife. While Sarabjit will refuse to believe Meher will use all her abilities to try to convince Sarab otherwise and expose Tarkash.
Nimrit Kaur Ahluwalia as Meher from Choti Sarrdaarni says, “Domestic violence is a very serious issue that women face even today. Being a lawyer myself, I have met women who have been victims of domestic violence. I take pride in the fact that our show is highlighting such an important social issue. I hope it encourages many other victims like Aarti to come forward and take a stand as #RespectMatters.”
