I have shed 12 kgs for the role of Kaalia in Dharm Yoddha Garud: Ankit Raaj

Ankit Raaj gets candid about Dharm Yoddha Garud on Sony Sab

Young and talented Ankit Raaj, who claimed fame with Qubool Hai, went on to portray challenging roles in shows Mastaangi, Iahqbaaaz and Laado – Veerpur Ki Mardaani. Now, the actor is back on screen with a different avatar in Sony Sab’s latest offering Dharm Yoddha Garud.

Talking about his new show, Ankit said, “I am playing the role of Kaalia, who is a naag. Kaalia is powerful, aggressive, and very short-tempered. The character is always restless about doing something, like wanting to hit someone or create a menace in someone’s life. So I try to imagine what his reaction would be if you suddenly tried to stop him. For the role of Kaalia, I practiced and incorporated versions of evil laughter. I am looking forward to playing this character and exploring more as an artist through the course of the show.”

Ankit revealed that he shed kilos to fit into the skin of the role. He added, “I feel you should fit the character really well. So I have been working on my body to get into the role. I have even shed 12 kgs for the role in 6 months. It is difficult to shoot with heavy costumes and accessories, but it’s fun and different from what we usually do so that makes it memorable.”

When asked about his on-screen bond with the team, Ankit mentioned: “The entire cast of Garud is extremely phenomenal. They are all seasoned actors and have stepped into the shoes of their characters brilliantly. I tease Parul Chauhann a lot, who is playing my on-screen mother. I write ‘maa’ on Instagram in her comment section and she gets pissed. We have a lot of fun on the sets. Each day has been a great learning experience too.”

On an endnote, he shared, “I am exploring something very different this time, away from the roles of a rich spoilt brat or a lover boy. I am certain that my fans will love me in this avatar. The show promises to be grand in every aspect and will keep you glued to your television screens. I want fans to support and love our new show.”

Good luck Ankit!
