I love the fact that Antara is known as a destructive identity in Guddan Tumse Na ho Payega: Dalljiet Kaur

Talented actress Dalljiet Kaur has played many amazingly good roles on television!! She has been the sweet girl-next-door who has won hearts with her portrayals.

Her popular and noteworthy sister character in the Barun Sobti and Sanaya Irani show Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon is a true example of her acting caliber.

Now, Dalljiet portrays a strikingly different avatar of Antara in Zee TV’s popular show Guddan Tumse Na ho Payega, produced by Ved Raj.

Antara can be the innocent girl, smart and intelligent one and also the violent and completely unpredictable girl too.

Playing this different character did start with nervous energies building up for Dalljiet. However, she has now gotten confident in her character and is doing wonders.

Says Dalljiet, “I have never ever entered a show mid way. I have always started a show from the beginning. So I was very nervous when I decided to enter Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega in the role of Antara. I was very skeptical about the audience accepting me. Also when I entered, the World Cup was on and the rating was hit a bit. I could see the acceptance coming from fans but could not see in it the ratings. But now I am glad that with the World Cup ending, our rating has gone up. It is very liberating to do such crazy stuff as Antara.”

Talking about her character, Dalljiet states, “She is unpredictable. She talks something at one second and ends up reacting in a different way. She is a mix of being a psychopath and a liar. People like the masala that Antara is providing (smiles).”

“When Ved Sir signed me for the show, he gave me a narration and gave me a free hand. He being the Producer and Writer never interferes in the way I portray my scenes. As an actor, it is encouraging when the Producer and Writer gives you the feeling that you are on the right path. This instills confidence in me,” adds the actress, Dalljiet Kaur.

Dalljiet states that her mother hates Antara to the core. “Just yesterday my mother was telling me how she hates this character of Antara (laughs). She said that Antara is mad and is so angry at her for creating problems for Akshat and Guddan. I was really feeling very happy that my mother hates Antara (smiles).”

Ask her on how she approached the character of Antara and Dalljiet avers, “I have never played such a character before. Nobody knows how this character will react to a given situation. She can scream, she can be soft, she can play smart, or can get violent. Basically she is quite twisted in the head. Initially there was a healthy discussion we had over Antara using the language of English in her speech. That was when I told the creatives that Antara should be allowed to speak English as she is classy and well-educated. However, she is not fine in the mind. The entire team has worked so much on the look and behavior of Antara. Now we have made Antara into a classy girl who is a psychopath.”

Dalljiet who started her career with shows like Kumkum Pyaar Sa Bandhan, Kulvaddhu, Santaan, Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon etc has gone on to have a good career. Recently she has done different kind of roles in shows Kaala Teeka, Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka, Qayamat Ki Raat.

Dalljiet Kaur is happy that she gets huge number of hate mails and messages from fans for her portrayal. “People hate Antara for ruining the love life of Akshat and Guddan. But fans don’t know that I smile when I get hate mails.”

Dalljiet owes it to Ekta Kapoor for tapping her acting instinct in a negative role. “When I did Qayamat Ki Raat, I was signed only for 10 episodes. I was to die and end my role. However, the script was changed and Ekta Maam wanted me to come back as the possessed negative character. I will want to thank Ekta Maam for trusting that I could pull off the negative role. And you will not believe it, it were the same negative role clips of Qayamat Ki Raat that Ved Sir saw and approved me to play Antara. So I honestly want to thank Ekta Maam for giving me my first negative role. I have only done good roles and never had a reference of playing a negative character till the time Qayamat Ki Raat happened.”

Ask her on what the viewers can expect from Antara and she says, “Viewers have no idea on what she can come up with. Antara is now touching the most bizarre boundaries and a lot is to come from her in Guddan Tumse Na Ho Payega.”

To the viewers, the actress quips, “I want to thank viewers for hating Antara a lot. I love the fact that Antara has become a destructive identity in their lives. I want them to hate Antara more (smiles). I hope that this is the start of something beautiful for my career.”

Last but not the least, Dalljiet Kaur thanks her co-actors for making it easier for her to get in and play her part. “From the time I entered the show, there have been no normal scenes with my co-artistes. I had to molest Akshat in my very first scene; I had to manhandle Guddan and also try to kill Durga. So I have had to do so many crazy things with them. I am so thankful to them that they did not make me feel uncomfortable at all.”

Also Dalljiet is grateful to Director Subhash for helping her out. “Actually, the day I started shoot for the show, Director Subhash too had his first day on the set. He was also as nervous as I was. But touchwood, he helped me a lot. So a big thanks to Subhash Sir too.”

Dalljiet Kaur, rock on as Antara!!
