The episode of Anupamaa starts with Anuj’s assistance informing him that that work on license formalities has started. Anupamaa tells Devika to leave if she is done talking. Devika says she is scared but should remember how she fought with society to come this far. She wanted an identity for herself and shouldn’t stop now. Anupamaa says it’s easy for her to say as she doesn’t have to answer anyone. Devika says people question her as well but she gives a befitting reply. She should explain to Baa that if her son doesn’t agree she needs to tell him to be within his limits. Life gives betrayal many times and opportunities only once, so Anupamaa shouldn’t miss this. She had the courage to pitch in the idea about women empowerment. Once she has started to run, she shouldn’t stop. Devika says she can inspire other oppressed women by doing this.
Devika tells her that if Baa and Vanraj’s ego is stopping her then it’s their problem. She tells her that 26 years of oppression is enough and now Anupamaa needs to think for her happiness. Devika says she will be working for Anuj as well, she gives her the papers and tells her to think carefully. Anupamaa looks at the contract papers thinking about what everyone said. Vanraj watching her from the cafeteria thinks Anupamaa is not that courageous to sign the paper. Devika comes storming into Anuj’s office saying it’s useless to befriend stupid people. She says Anupamaa as usual is adamant and tells Anuj to talk to her. Anuj says he is fine with whatever decision Anupamaa takes. Baa thinks everything was getting back to normal and Anupamaa ruined it. Kavya says she told the same thing to Baa but she didn’t listen. Baa tells her to shut up, she thinks she won’t let Anupamaa ruin house peace.
Anuj comes home sad. He tells GK he made a mistake by coming back to India. He says he got unnecessary hopes meeting Anupamaa after 26 years, he shouldn’t have interfered with her perfect life. Sweets get delivered to their house. GK says with sweets good news will also come. At home Anupamaa takes a pen from Vanraj and signs the contract papers, she says she has decided to take the offer. Vanraj shouts how dare she decide to work with Anuj. Anupamaa tells him to lower his volume as he is no longer her husband. Baa tells her to think about the family. Anupamaa says in the last 26 years she only thought about the family. She made the kitchen her home for Baa, took ten steps back for Vanraj, begged Rakhi for Toshu’s sake and forgot herself for the family. She asks Baa if she still wants her to think about family.
A mother and wife are expected to think about others, but what is wrong with a woman thinking about herself. Anupamaa says Baa supported Vanraj when he started cafeteria then why can’t she be happy for her daughter. Baa tells her she will not work with Anuj. Anupamaa asks why not. Vanraj says she is shameless and wants to prove that she is a heroine. Anupamaa says she is the heroine of her own story. Bapuji, Samar, Mamaji and Kinjal clap and praise Anupamaa. Baa says she has no idea what is in Anuj’s mind. Anupamaa says she doesn’t even want to know as what she thinks is important for her.
