In the beginning, Baa informs Anupamaa and Anuj that if a person doesn’t have a name, he or she becomes anonymous, and if a relationship doesn’t have a name, it becomes dishonourable, therefore they should give their relationship a name to get respect from society and solve all of their issues. He claims that their love is one-sided, and that only he loves Anupamaa, and that she will never love him. A relationship without love is never acceptable, and he will never embarrass Anupamaa with such a relationship, and so on.
Anupamaa confronts Baa, asking why she is so adamant, and why Anuj couldn’t be her friend when Devika can. Baa claims she allowed them to silence everyone, but they are lecturing her. Baa claims that they are interfering with her life and happiness and that her home is dark as a result of them. She threatens to slap him if he doesn’t quite up, and she continues to humiliate them.
Bapuji loses his cool and says that he has always thought of his wife as a life partner, not a servant and that he has endured all of her nonsense until now, but now he can’t and tells her to leave his daughter’s dancing academy and warehouse. He claims she earned his silence in exchange because her tongue is bitter, yet he still didn’t say anything to her. Baa continues to humiliate Bapuji by claiming that he didn’t have enough money to hire a rickshaw after their marriage and that she had to walk 5 miles to get to his house, that his mother only gave blessings and that his father only gave her 1.25 rs, and that he only gave her the Ramayan and no silver articles. Anupamaa claims that while she and her son have made many sacrifices, Bapuji has poured his heart out and fulfilled all of his responsibilities, among other things.
