In the beginning, Anuj informs Anupamaa that he heard that when a person is angry, their tongue bites sharper than a snake and that what Baa did was very heinous. Anupamaa believes it will be even worse when Mr Shah learns what his mother did to his father; yet, Mr Shah is a good father and a better son; she decided to start over this Diwali, not knowing what else is in store. She tells him that it’s too late and that he should go home. He walks away. Anuj says it’s late, he should go to bed, and they’ll chat in the morning.
Baa does puja the next morning and wishes the children and Kavya a good new year. Kavya suggests that we begin anew with the new year and reintroduce Bapuji. Kavya claims Bapuji would have returned yesterday night if Anupamaa hadn’t kidnapped him; she is indirectly retaliating against Baa by kidnapping Bapuji. Baa claims that they have been married for 50 years, even before Anupamaa was born, and that it will not be easily broken. Kavya wonders what will happen if she kidnaps Bapuji because she knows that to keep everyone under control, they must bring Bapuji back home in some way. Anupamaa and Anuj force Bapuji to don smiley-faced walking shoes and insist on accompanying them on a walk, but Bapuji remains glum. Kavya claims that Bapuji is furious with Baa, not with him and that if he leaves, Bapuji will not refuse him. He claims he held back because he was concerned for Bapuji’s safety because he understands the value of a father. He claims that Bapuji is not only her father but also his father and that he now bears their responsibilities.
Mamaji confronts Baa, telling her that he would not receive a rakhi from her on Bhai Dooj tomorrow and curses her with dark days from now on. She encourages Baa against Anupamaa once more, claiming that Anupamaa must have video phoned Mamaji and irritated him and that they should return Bapuji home before Vanraj arrives.
