Today’s Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai 31 July episode starts with Kairav refusing to leave Kartik (Mohsin Khan) . Even Kartik got upset. He wished that he could keep Kairav’s wish. Dadi found Kartik crying for Kairav and consoled him. She asked him not to spoil his mood on the day of his engagement since the day was very much special for Vedika. Dadi explained to him that it was not good to get attached to anyone so much, he might hurt himself this way. Kartik got ready for his engagement. He imagined Naira (Shivangi Joshi) who questioned him if he can forget her and give her place to someone else. Kartik told her that she left him, but he could never give her place to anyone else.
He was angry that she didn’t stay with him for long. He was doing this for those he love. He shouted at Naira to stop coming in his memories. Samarth called Kartik for the engagement. He asked Kartik if he was fine. Kartik was lost and thought of the many coincidences between Kairav and him. He learned that Kairav was staying in the same hotel where he went to find the hacker. He faced the reporters who pose weird questions to add up troubles. He handled the situation well and asked the reporters to just enjoy the function. Naira happened to see the Puja thread and understood that Dadi would have kept it for Kartik.
Dadi created havoc that she had lost the thread. She told Manish that it was a bad omen; pandit had already warned her about the family in troubles. She didn’t know what to do to get the thread back.
